I do. Big time, I think this has to border on the hardest prereq. anyone agree?
i rock at English and math, but I despise both subjects
Oh? And how did you "rock" at English without capitalizing the "I"?!!
Booya!

Hmm. Proper comma usage, but no capitalization or ending punctuation.
Overall score: -1.
(You know I love you all. :O)
orly, does my +1 in post count balance it out >
hows that for ending punctuation <
I gave you +1 for the comma, but -2 for capitalization and the missing period. Come on! Grammar/punctuation-policing can be fun!
...except not at all.
Move along. Nothing to see here.
how do u know it wasnt the exclamation mark, and wuts my score on this sentence
"But, seriously" is considered a sentence now, eh?
That's the downside of playing the part of being a grammar police; everyone starts to watch out for every tiny possible error in your typing. Anyone could find plenty of errors in my posts, too. 😀
dude thats excatly what just happened! I spent 3 days working on a paper, turned it in thinking it was bad-ass and I was going to get an A. I get it back, and its a B. Not only that, the TA writes, "Great job!" 😡

I know how that feels!!! but i found the perfect solution. I got my personal editor. All u got to do is get a girlfriend or boyfriend that knows how to write really good (she has saved me through my ps and all my papers 😀). If u can check the english department.
so just hang around english department, look for desperate-looking girls?

enlish classes are harder than science classes to get high marks in.....
Uh, either you are shakespeare reincarnate, or there is a big discrepancy between the standards of our humanities classes.I loved English classes. In fact I love all my gen ed classes. I don't even try and I get A's. It's sad really. The papers that I think deserve F's (yea I turn them in anyway I don't really care) always manage to get A+. When I do try, oh look an A. So I stopped trying. Science courses however is a completely different story. If I don't try then I get passable grades on exams. If I do try, I fail. It's confusing. My sister said it's because I stress myself out. That's probably true. During every exam for a science course I keep saying the same thing, "if I miss this question I won't get into med school". Too much pressure.

Or a discrepancy in your capabilities of self-evaluation.Uh, either you are shakespeare reincarnate, or there is a big discrepancy between the standards of our humanities classes.

I took a humanities class to satisfy the english pre req. Poetry blows. Hard.
It's not ridiculous to suggest that some people inherently perform better in English courses. In fact, it's silly to suggest otherwise. I've collected extensive data on the subject and derived a mathematical model that charts a linear relationship:
y = mx + b, where
y = objective quality of paper
x = time invested
m = coefficient of effort
b = static modulator of background/natural ability
As for grammar: this is a damn internet forum. Don't assume that one's style here mirrors that used in his academic papers.

So where do you take into account the differences in standards between schools? Ok, y=objective quality of paper, so you are obviously missing the chief complaint of this thread, which is that so much of grading is in these god damn classes is subjective.
Or maybe there aren't any significant differences in standards between schools and you simply have an inflated sense of your own writing ability. Check your b-value.So where do you take into account the differences in standards between schools? Dude... was not being serious. 🙄LOL! get the fu*k out of here with that BS. hs algebra the highest math you've taken? You're not an economist are you? LOL

Tell that to the state of Alabama.Dude, you need to integrate.

Subjective grading is how my music major roommates get straight A's. Look at the rubric, talk to the professor, and it's really not that hard to figure out what he's looking for. Then just write a good essay with proper style and support, like you've presumably done since middle school. But laying your problems at the feet of subjective grading is a weak cop out.
