Are there athletic leagues in professional schools? I'd still kinda wanna stay toned while studying. Ultimate against the med students? Tennis at Flushing Meadows? Swimming at Nova's beaches?

I'd like to play some men's league hockey or golf. Even get involved in some sort of swimming league. I miss high school sports 🙁

golf, eh? I wouldn't mind getting some country club action in. Definately have to check which schools have some CC's in the area.

I hate to break it to you..but golf is not a sport! A sport is something that old people can't do.

I know that temple has intramural sports with other professional schools in the area: UPenn, Drexel, Thomas Jefferson Med (not sure about this one). I think it was mentioned there are basketball, soccer and ultimate frisbee leagues. I would love if there were golf competitions! Anything to get a discounted rate.

if you're gonna be talking like that, I hope there's no belly flab on your tummy!

I don't disagree with you, but if you're gonna talk smack about a physical activity, I hope you're fit enough.

there had better be intramurals in dental school, or i will go insane. i run a lot, but that is just not enough, i need sports!

taking this thread a little further, what about gyms? do any d-schools have their own fitness centers, or do they normally allow you to use their undergrad gym (if they are nearby) ?

Houston as their own rec center in the medical center for all the professional schools. San Antonio has a gym on campus as well. There are also plenty of gyms around San Antonio including Gold's and Lifetime Fitness. Baylor does not have a gym on campus, but then again it's Dallas, so there are plenty of places to work out in the area and the surrounding suburbs.

On another note, all of the Texas schools compete against each other in the Dental Olympics every spring. Sounds like a lot of fun to me!

I know a ton of Ohio state guys were playing around in the rock climbing gym on campus the day before my interview. It seems to be a hot spot.

I'm in training session right now. Both hands get a full workout every day. You should see my thumbs. . they have humongous biceps.

My hands will be ready when dental school starts.

I think i'm that same training program. Do you find you get better results from the XBox or the PS2 controller? Frankly, I'm partial to the gamecube controller because it fits my hand best, but the DS lite fills in quite well in a pinch.

Actually, I'm still stuck with Nintendo 64 (broke, you know why). However, the rest of my fingers get enough exercise from SDN alone.

Wait till you see me in dental school, my fingers will be lightning fast.

Lately, I've been trying to eat with chopsticks in my right hand (I'm a lefty). Don't be like those workout fiends who forget about their legs. Ambidexterity or bust. 😎

lol...are you asian? I haven't eaten with chopsticks for a long time....just with plastic spoons and forks. I know i'm going to be a great dentist because i handle my chopsticks very well.

I'll be down to play some ice hockey again. Or I guess I learning to play golf would be a good idea, especially wanting to be a dentist.

you can play plenty of golf once you ACTUALLY become a dentist...

I love golf, but that sports take up too much time while studying is in hand
(and yes, golf is a sports..... if you are not riding in a cart and chugging 5 beers every hole)😉

I need a swimming team!!!!!! not that I think that ill have time, but just beacuse I love it!!!!!!!!!
