Being the geek that I am combined with momentary boredom, if you had to pick a dental school solely based on how impressed you were by their website, which school would that be?

Criteria includes:
1. Wow! factor (layout, graphics, flash, sexy dental student pictures, etc.)
2. Ease of locating information (admission criteria, statistics, academic calendar, etc.)
3. Amount of information available to the public (course list, book list, etc.)
4. Website speed

Also list the worst dental school websites in your opinion.

Ideally, a poll should be set up but I'm too lazy to list all the dental schools but I will update this first post to reflect the stats if members choose to play along.

I thought the virtual tour on NYU web page was quite nice.

NYU has the nicest and UConn has the crappiest. Seriously who designed UConn's webpage?

market, oops I meant marquette. Very ****ty website. 😀

Crappy Creighton.

Thanks for the intial responses. Here are my personal comments on some of the websites you chose:
Best Dental Website Candidates: (as chosen by you)
Boston- Main menu is very flash oriented, yes. However, I think it is poorly done and has bugs in it. Navigation in order to access important admission information isn't the greatest. Beyond the main page flash, the other non-flash pages are boring. Definitely IMO shouldn't be in this category.
NYU- Several of you chose this which I agree is a well developed website. Not the prettiest, but easy to access and find what you're looking for. And I agree that the virtual tour is well made, a little cheesy with what people say in them but impressive nonetheless.
Meharry- No way, it's like someone created this website in MS word and saved it as an .html. Unless you meant it was a bad website, my bad.
Florida- This is what I'm talking about. Very nice layout with a professional look. Menu is clear and finding information is easy. Good site.

Worst Dental Website Candidates: (as chosen by you)
Marquette- Acutally this website isn't bad at all compared to the ones I've seen. The layout is crisp, easy to find what you're looking for. I guess if I had to find something bad it would just be the multi-color tabs/scheme which screams of a community college/unprofessional cheesy look, but that's a slight stretch.
Creighton- I agree, this website is god awful. Layout is nasty, can't even find the admission criteria, so many "404: page not found" errors, talk about the need to get their act together.

Florida is definitely the best dental site out there.

I think Pitt's is pretty good

UNC also has a very nice website. I'll also second (or third) the vote for UF -- their site is great.

WORST: San Antonio

Indiana is a pretty awful page to look at it, it looks like a high schooler designed the page. It pretty much is just a list of links.

My vote for worst is Oklahoma. The website is basically just some links and not all links lead to locations.

SUNY Buffalo is also pretty bad. But then again, you can't blame state schools (a large number of these seem to have the worst web sites).

my experience votes for the worst being Iowa

I have not been able to even see the Meharry's web page load up recently. anybody has an address that works?
This is what is listed: www.mmc.edu

That website works. It is a crappy website though. You can't really find what you are looking for.

UCLA's website is not that great, come to think of it...
Columbia's is crappier though.

i love my school but i am afraid it's not gonna win this one. for worst sites, the nominees are:

stony brook
creighton (i wish you had seen their previous website though, now that was another story)

for best websites, the nominees are:

Boston University
NYU
minnesota

UNLV gives a ton of info.

Case's wasn't bad.

The worst is when you have to have a login to get to the faculty directory for a phone number. 👎

Iowa's wasn't bad, but does it really matter?

I hate Boston's site. It goes overboard with the Flash to the point where it actually impedes functionality. Not to mention it takes up such a small area of the browser window, which looks horrible on larger monitors.

Definitely Indiana👎 👎

UF's new one is nice but the old one was very "ehh".
NYU is my favorite.

Creighton is the absolute worst. And I remember not liking Temple's because I thought it was hard to find stuff.

Amen to MN. Pretty good site I think as well...but I might be going there so I'm definitely biased.

I also agree that Creighton's sux.

i agree, flash sucks....i used to do lots of webdesign and i refused to use it unless it was absolutely necessary (and i used it in a minimalistic approach)

jb!🙂

NYU has a nice website.👍
