All these threads are about what you've heard, where you've interviewed, when you were accepted . . . so I thought I'd start a "we've heard nothing" thread.

So I'll start . . . I'VE HEARD SQUAT! Other than the few secondaries I got prior to the August MCAT, I've heard nothing, nadda, zippo!!

Please tell me someone else is in the same boat!

Of course, the good news is I haven't gotten rejected yet. I think that could changes soon. :scared:

Khenon - how many schools did you apply to?

I wouldn't expend too much worry effort since most schools didn't even look at your app until after your August scores.

If you took the MCAT in August, you have nothing to complain about. It's the people who were complete in August that haven't heard anything that deserve their own thread.

I applied to 15 schools, have filled out 5 secondaries, and am no longer pursuing 1. I think what's bugging me is I've heard absolutely nothing. I'm reading people's posts that schools are at least recognizing they received August scores and will be reviewing their file, etc. I haven't hear ANYTHING. I'd almost take a rejection over this, which, by the way, some people are getting rejections since the August scores. Did every school just LOSE my application?

I'm just hoping that others are in the dark like me. It seems like everyone on this website is getting some acknowledgement of their applications/August scores. Why not me?!!! 🙁

I'm actually concerned directly with those who haven't heard since the August scores have been released. That's exactly what I'm trying to find out. If anyone else, who had to wait for August scores to be released haven't heard anything. The posts I'm reading say that people ARE getting responses since their school(s) have received their August scores. I feel like all my schools have LOST my application or something.

Some schools take an really long time to give you an update. If you had applied to 15+, it would be weirder, but maybe the 5 you applied to are just a little slower.

I'm curious: why give AMCAS money for 15 when you really only wanted 5? I'm assuming that of the 10 remaining, you didn't get pre-secondary rejections from ALL of them.

Sorry, I should clarify. The secondaries I did fill out where the only ones offered to me. All the others were waiting for August MCAT scores. That's all fine, but reading the "August MCATers" thread, many people on the same "hold" status have at least heard that their schools are now reviewing their files (with their new scores). Others, of course, are being sent secondaries or offered interviews. So of the 9 schools left that I'm waiting on, I've heard absolutely nothing. They're not reviewing my file, they're not offering me secondaries, nothing. Further, the 5 schools that do have secondaries from me, I'm not hearing anything either. Literally . . . I've heard nothing from no one. It's so disconcerting!

Don't sweat it. I took the Aug MCAT, applied to 18 schools and only 3 have responded and said that my application is complete. It just takes time, I think. Oh wait, now I am freakin' out too. 😱

Hmm, so you're missing secondaries at 9/15 schools. Are they all UC's that screen pre-secondary? I applied to 17 schools & received 14 secondaries way before August MCAT scores were released (most of my schools are non-screening). When was your AMCAS processed?

For the schools that you have submitted secondaries, you may be able to check on their status page to see if they've received your scores.

You should probably wait a few more weeks before getting completely freaked. Schools download MCAT scores in batches on a weekly basis. So maybe your schools just haven't gotten to the batch that has you in it.

:luck: :luck: :luck: to you. You will be hearing soon enough!

Don't worry. I haven't heard anything yet either. I have schools where I've submitted the secondary, schools that screen waiting for August MCATs, and I've heard absolutely nothing. As for that person who heard from Mayo... I sent my Mayo fee in LONG ago and haven't heard anything except chirruping crickets since. At least I haven't heard any rejections, either.

Be patient. I'm sure you'll hear before I will 😀

You guys are getting me freaked out! I took the April MCAT, been complete with my secondaries since August and still no interview...hmmm...should I be worried? I got about 20 secondaries...all complete...and still NO interviews...

kdnysux,

I'm in a sorta similar situation. I took april MCAT got a bunch of secondaries out and seem to be in a lull now (I've got two interviews here in Oct. but I heard about those a long time ago. things have been quite for 1.5 months). I keep telling myself to breath.

I am going to start calling people. Especially at schools who haven't sent me a card or email saying "We've received everything for your application and are considering it." In general I don't want to pester admin folks, but If it's been over a month and I haven't heard a "you're complete" statement, I feel justified.

Good Luck... My friends who are docs (in their residency) keep telling me to just breath and live life. Sorta that "A watched pot never boils" concept.

NOTHING here! filled out ALL my secondaries (20) and just took the MCAT in august... now i'm waiting patiently. 🙄

I still haven't heard anything, I called Wake and Vandy today, neither has the august mcat scores yet. They both said wait a couple weeks. It is still early for a lot of schools. Remember, many interview into march and april.

It's the Texas schools that I'm worried about. There are only a couple days left!

I'm in the exact same situaton as you Khenon...I applied to 23 schools and have had secondaries from only 6 schools. I called few of them and they tiold me to wait (2- 3 weeks!!!!!!)because it takes them a while to get August MCAT...My AMCAS was verified just this week though (it took them 3 weeks to do that!!!).

Good luck and hope we all hear some good news 🙂

definitely call to make sure your app is complete. if your app is complete and you haven't heard anything after a month, i'd call to check your status. schools do interview until march or april, but those invites usually go out in jan. so if you haven't heard anything by jan, i'd definitely call. good luck!

Thanks everyone! I'm just so glad I'm not the only one who hadn't heard anything. The "August MCATers" discussion thread was totally freakin' me out! It seemed like schools I had applied to were repsonding to them, but not me.Yeah, like Mayo! Anyway, I'll give it a couple more weeks. My AMCAS application was complete in June, so that's not the problem. I already heard from most of my schools in July that they had my verified AMCAS. Then I got this flood of secondaries (okay, I got 5, not a flood!), and then nothing since. Just a bunch of emails telling me they needed my August scores before they could review my file. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's not heard anything since the August scores were released.

And, no, still no rejections. I guess that will be my bright side.

Well I wish you all the best. I'm sure in the next few weeks I'll hear something. Hopefully it's not all bad!

I haven't heard anything other than rejections. I am in the same boat. Hope things get better soon.

Hey Khenon,

I'm pretty much in the same boat as well--my AMCAS was processed in the beginning of August, I took the Aug MCAT and haven't heard much from schools. I have received all of my secondaries, but most of the schools I applied at don't screen pre-secondary (maybe 3-4 out of the 19?). I have completed 14 of the secondaries so far. The only thing that has happened since the scores were released is I finally got a UCSF secondary, but I don't know if that was because of the Aug scores or not. I e-mailed a bunch of schools last weekend to see if my app was complete, only 2/3 have responded so far and not much came out of that other than that, as of early this week, quite a few hadn't downloaded the Aug scores yet. 🙄 It's hard to read about all these other people getting interviews and not hearing anything yourself. Hopefully we'll start hearing from schools soon (and not rejections)! :luck:

I submitted my amcas late august and took the august mcat as well. I got secondaries from the schools i applied to but many put me on hold til august mcat scores were received. I submitted a bunch of seconds in mid sept but i didnt hear anything til yesterday and today when i got emails saying my file is complete and now ive got some interviews. dont worry, i have just avg stats, 29q and 3.7. i think it takes a while if you took the august mcat to get all the paperwork in to get a response out to applicants

Congratulation on interviews. Can you share which schools you have interviews from?

Of course it was a rejection! It's actually okay. It was from Mayo, and I knew they wouldn't be able to consider me with my low MCAT score. I was surprisingly content getting my rejection letter from them. Anyway, I thought since I threw such a big fit over not hearing anything, I better report that I had. Thanks for all your support and information. I wish everyone the best in the next months!

Well, at least most of you guys have only the MCAt scores to contend with. My school refuses to write recommendation to anyone without first looking at the MCAT scores, so they had to wait until our scores came in. Of course, one of the professors had to be gone that week, so our recommendation interview was delayed one more week. They are just NOW sending out our recommendations. I have to also worry about making sure my recommendations are in this late into the application process.

All I can say is, i'm already prepping for reapplication if I dont' get in. I have decided to do a pre-emptive strike (heh heh) and have begun preparing to retake it April if need be (never again in August with my school!) and to register for a couple of classes at the suggestion of my premed advisor. I find doing something that will help me get into medical school, even if it's not this year, is a good outlet for my feeling of helplessness at the application process. I suggest to others who feel helpless and fearful about not getting in, to do likewise. If nothing else, it gives me peace of mind, that I'm doing SOMETHING. 🙂

I couldn't agree more! I too am preparing to study for April. I've also heard that some schools will consider your April scores for this year's application pool. Of course, you still have to get an interview and get waitlisted, but hey . . . there's still hope. Either way, I'm takin' that darned test again. I'm also going to do some more clinical volunteering and shadowing. It's the only other "weak" point in my app, so I may as well boost that while I'm at it. If I'm not going to get in this year, then I may as well be prepared to get everything in pristine order so I can apply early next year. Best of luck to you. Regardless, I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us that we get in this year! Take care.
