Who is still holding onto multiple acceptances?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Way to selectively read what I wrote so that you can misunderstand it and post according to what you think I should have said. What I actually said was that my opinion was based on posts in this "and other threads over the years." I've been on SDN since 2006. Do you think this is the first thread I've seen on this topic? Secondly, I acknowledged that some have legit reasons for waiting, while also acknowledging that it's JUNE. Very few people are still in limbo for legit reasons. Just b/c there aren't more a-holes posting about how they're keeping their acceptances for the hell of it, don't assume they don't exist.

I'm just curious, if you're already in medical school, why do u care so much about this topic and spend time at 5:15am to post? Also, I'm sure many ppl don't want to be holding multiple accepts at this time. They just can't decide where to go - i'd rather know where I am going and get my s**t together than still flip flopping. There are going to be very few people who have more than one acceptance and are just like well I know i'm going to school X and i signed a lease and everything but I'm just holding on to this other acceptance for school y for kicks.

Just because you're a med student doesn't mean you stop caring about things. I'm a morning person. I was up for my morning run and decided to check in to SDN as I waited for the rain to pass.

I never said different. My posts were directed at those who are still holding multiple acceptances for no reason and I made that painfully clear. And really folks, do you honestly believe that just because more of those people aren't posting in THIS particular thread means they don't exist? It's the same kind of thing that leads people to believe no one ever gets a 20 on the MCAT. The people who do, don't usually post. Over the years, there have been a number of people who have admitted to holding onto acceptances for no real reason. For every one who admits it, there's one out there who doesn't.

You all can believe what you want.

Just-Joshin,

You mentioned you are a first year. Do you mind my asking where you attend? Just curious.

To people holding multiple acceptances: keep on truckin'. You don't owe anyone here a dime.

You don't owe anyone, but there's a lot of things we do in order to treat others well that we don't owe them. Unless you were just recently given an acceptance, I agree that there's not many good reasons for still holding them this late in the game. I held on to my two for two reasons: the first, because I was too lazy to bother taking the initiative to send a little email and withdraw, and the second, because I was being neurotic and paranoid that despite having been accepted, paid the deposit, and filled out forms to matriculate, I had the irrational fear that an acceptance would be taken away, and then I'd have one to fall back on. It's a crazy mindset, just like taking months to try to pick between two schools. There's not that much to research and think about to make it take this long.

To a degree it kind of makes me nervous knowing that people who are entering a profession to "serve humanity" have a "**** it" attitude towards their own peers. I totally agree to some degree, take your time to make a choice. But months to make a choice? Really? Im fortunate to have gotten two acceptances and I didnt take long to decide. Why? Well instead of taking my time over months to decide, I sat down for a day and really thought hard of the pros and cons of each school.

I do agree SOME of the reasons above are valid, but there is plenty of people who posted last summer (when i first started heavily following SDN) and a few in this forum who clearly have no respect for their peers

Potentially you are screwing over your future classmates and potential friends by not making a quick, educated decision

I'd prefer to keep my anonymity. It really has nothing to do with this thread.
