Here is what I want to know:

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) Credentials unit includes non-physicians such as Emily Stephenson, Julie Waters. There is also their boss D. Danoff who may or may not be a physician. These people are essentially the preliminary 'seat of power'. But who is next? What's the hierarchy?

Does anyone know who actually *IS* the RCPSC?

I do know that it is a PRIVATE entity, i.e. NOT the government, and they don't even give out medical licenses -- they only decide whether or not you are eligible for a given specialty's certification exam (which, admittedly, some provinces -- though not all -- us as a proxy measure for giving a license).

Who's had experiences with the above trifecta? I'm not saying good or bad for fear the MODs censor this thread, but it's time this shadowy body became more transparent.

I'm not sure. I know Emily Stephenson is a non-physician. Julie Waters deals with U.S.-based training, she's also a non-physician. Near as I can tell, she simply just consults the guidelines, and sees if things correlate, no actual labor involved in assessing credentials per se.

Danoff is a "Dr." but I'm not sure if she's a medical doctor or not, and if so, no idea what specialty.

If you get to the credentialing stage, it helps to have your app "escorted" by another physician already boarded in Canada, and don't be shy about involving your local and provincial MPs.

The governing council of the RCPSC is comprised of elected members who are qualified doctors in Canada.
