I just wanted to get a feel for how many applicants will be calling. This consists of the people that have been accepted to other schools.

What is so special about January 3rd?

At my interview Joyce Haynie told us that after the interview you will be placed in YES or NO pile. If it's a no then you get a refection letter after 1-2 weeks, but if you are in the YES pile you can be accepted or placed in the waiting list or just linger in the YES pile. Joyce said that you can find out where you stand and if you have a chance of being accepted in MARCH.

When I interviewed, Joyce told everyone that if you get accepted in December to another school, you can call on Jan 3rd to inquire your status so that you know if you should go ahead and make your deposit to that other school or not. She said that she will give you the best and most truthful idea about where you stand in their yes file. That is, if you are right there, or not even close, or she just can't tell...because you are in the middle gray area. But at least you'll walk away having an idea. This is only under the circumstance that you have been accepted to another school because they don't want to make you spend that money to that other school if they can help it. However, she said that if you do not have an acceptance letter, then you will have to wait to call until March 1st to find out your status.

interesting, she did not mention this to us. did she think we would not get into a school in december?

thanks for the info, now that i have an acceptance i might call to see where i stand. but i don't want to call and find out that the really thin envelope is already in the mail.

Are you talking about the really thin piss off letter that states that you will never be able to attend dental school - yeah, I got that one (and I'm still bitter). Oh well...

I do remember the big J saying something about calling in early Jan. to get your status if you don't have an acceptance yet. I cannot recall if it was on Jan. 3rd or not. I've got an idea, since I'm already rejected why don't I call and find out for all of us? Who cares if I piss them off.

ISP lag... sorry

I did this at ASDOH, albeit in a bit of a different situation. The first year they interviewed, they didn't begin until December. I interviewed on December 22, and at that point already had a couple of acceptances to other schools. At my ASDOH interview I told them that if they were going to accept me I needed to know, because deposits at other schools were due soon. They understood this.

If you have other acceptances, and want to go to ASDOH, then it can't hurt to call. Sometimes it's good to let the school know that you'd attend there, but have to pay deposists elsewhere soon.

How long after your interview did you get notified of your acceptance?
