Committee letter.
O-Chem (A-)
Molecular/Cell Biology (A-)
Oral Surgeon (my mentor)

1. My PI, research advisor
2. The professor I TAed for (lower division biology)
3. The dentist that I shadowed

get your loR from 2 science prof and 1 non-sci prof and dentist

4 science and 1 dentist

Dentist I shadowed
Advanced Food Microbiology (A) professor
Academic Advisor (Who taught micro as well) - this one because the professor I did research for NEVER wrote one. I emailed him 10x, called him, tried to find him in his office, the guy was a GHOST!

Take what Dancingah says to heart, it was a nightmare, HAVE BACKUPS!

I'm not a traditional science major and graduated over 2 years ago so it was somewhat tough. Luckily I applied for a program as an undergrad that required letters of recomendations so I went back to some of the teachers and just asked them to change the letters a little. For AADSAS I had the senior ranking Air Force dentist at the base I'm assigned to, my intro bio teacher (A- in the class), my academic advisor who also taught my topics in mathematical programming class (A in the class), and my probabilistic models professor (A in the class). I also had to hit up my OChem 1 instructor and ask for a letter with a 2 day turnaround because UNLV only took Bio, Chem or Physics for science instructors (he seriously hooked it up but probably the weakest of the letters I received which probably had to do with the fact that I got a B in the class).

biology -A
Nutri Sci (my major)- AB
biochemistry- A
Dentist

and it took a long time to get them all done! make sure you ask early- cuz it took me two months to get ahold of my bio professor!

I gave my resume and personal statement to those who wrote my LOR. Ask them to have the letter by X date and make sure it's Y days before your goal submission. Obviously the cycle is 2 weeks later than the last, but be realistic.

For me, though, I had an English prof, Research PI,Genetics prof & Research PI, Physics and my general dentist of 15 years.

I wrote 2 of my 3 letters. I emailed them to professors, they printed them off and signed them, then mailed them.

I was expecting someone to say something like this...
get ready for this to turn into a morality thread...haha

research PI/intermed level bio prof (A+)
oral surgeon (mentor)
biochem professor (A+)
upper level bio prof (A+)

I didn't feel bad about it and don't think I should. I think ethically it was fine. Afterall, they asked me to write them as they said they were too busy. Submitting the letters to the professors gave them a chance to make any adjustments to my inflated letters as they saw fit before they signed them (means they approved the content) and sent them off to our friends at AADSAS.

Ecology Prof (A)
Biodiversity Prof (A-)
Humanities Prof (A-, A, A 3 classes)
Employer
Dentist from my neighborhood (has known me for a loooong time)

One of my schools required 3 science profs, so I got another from my Physiology prof (A), and had him send it to only that school.

committee letter plus dentist

On AADSAS, I think you're only allowed:

a. One committee letter (pre-dent/pre-professional committee) + one other letter (employer, dentist, etc.)

or

b. Three letters (from professors, if your school doesn't do the committee letter) + one other letter

I ended up getting my letters from 3 science professors:
Genetics--lab+lecture (A)...known her for 3 years
Microbiology, Immunology, Senior-year research--labs+lectures (A)...known him for 3 years
Embryology--lab (B), lecture (A)...senior year advisor

I also got another letter from the doctor I've been working for...been there for 4+ years.

Some schools will want an additional letter from a dentist or such when you fill out their secondary app, and some will just want what AADSAS gives them.

Do many schools request a non-science professor LOR? Because my Italian III prof would definitely write me a good letter if I asked her...

Thanks!
