Who else knows where they are going next year?
Not before financial aid info is provided by each school, that's for sure.

I'm pretty sure I'll be at Maryland next year... unless Duke actually decides to accept me, which is highly unlikely 🙁

Are you definitely going to your state school cerb?

yep, I was highly impressed 👍 👍

As of now, Ohio State. But, I'm waiting on four schools post-interview, all of which I'd choose over OSU.

I have it on my computer but don't know how to post it! 😳 PM me your e-mail address and I can send it to you that way. 😀

UCSF 🙂 ... I'm from the Bay Area!

Um, yeah...not so much...sort of need an acceptance first!

It's gonna be so awesome - I can TASTE it.

And it tastes like chicken.

Congrats to those who know where they're going - y'all can relax now - you've done it!!!! Yeah!

One of the UCs for sure since I just withdrew my USC application. But which one remains to be seen. Come on UCLA, stop ignoring me!

Ohio State is looking pretty tempting now that they lowered out of state tuition by 10 grand....

UNC-Chapel Hill

(unless I get some unexpected finaid)

Like a full ride to Duke?

Knowing a few Duke students I can honestly ask "why is the name of jeebus would you want to go there?"

Because it's the only school where you can finish all the science courses in one year. That way you can do something fun during your free year (such as get an MPH, MBA, or do research in the field you want to specialize in ). Why wouldn't you want to go to Duke?

I'm perty sure I'm going to Tulane. Still wanna hear from Northwestern Feinberg yet, and I may have some last minute Hail Mary interviews yet. We'll see. I dig the hell outta Tulane, though. Dirty Sowf reprazent!! 😎

Word. 😀

1) All science crammed into the first year

2) Students very stressed out relative to other schools (take it from a guy who knew several Duke med students while at UNC Chapel Hill undergrad... they practically didn't have time to respond to my emails, and they were kind of "friends")

3) DURHAM absolutely blows. The place doesn't even have street lights on the main thoroughfares or freeways.

Save me Jeebus, save me!

As bad as it may be, I'd be going there if I was JohnHolmes. I didn't even apply because I haven't done any research unless you count my extensive studying of the effects of beer consumption. I never did get those results published.

I'm completely done applying, though I haven't decided between Case, Loyola, and OHSU. I'll probably end up attending Loyola.

Ha ha ha ...something like that ....... 🙂 .....hey I can dream can't I 😴

 ( I would still prefer a full ride at UNC though .. we will see .... 5 more months for finaid decision and about 2 months to Duke's decision)

When you matriculate, will you change your userid? 🙂

96.5% sure its gonna be GTown

So far, I have the choice between gTown and Maryland. I think i'm going to do Maryland tho for the in state tuition.

so i'd put it at 97% sure for maryland and leave 1% for each of the 3 dream schools i was lucky enough to interview at 🙂

I'm going to Maryland, I cancelled my other interviews when I got in. 😎

are you in-state for OHSU? If so, isn't it significantly cheaper than Case and Loyola?

I would but then I will have to pay again to get that Rocket with my logo  (not to mention the # of posts.....you have no idea how many sleepless nights I have spent to get to 500+) 😍

Well I think I will keep the userid because it tells me that if one tries hard enough, one can make it 🙂

Yeah I'm in state, but OHSU's tuition for in-stater's is something like 27,000 😱

Case and Loyola (If I remember correctly) are both ~34,000. So it's a little cheaper to attend OHSU, but not that much cheaper. Plus I'm not sure that I want to stay in Oregon. I've been here way too long.

Case and OHSU are both pretty high up on my list. I understand not wanting to stay in-state, but why Loyola over Case? (Curious b/c I'm currently deciding where to apply).

Sorry if i sound ignorant, but Where is Loyola anyway?

Who hears the wildcat roar???

BTW, I did my MA at UNC-CH and am laughing my ass off about DUKE!!!!!!

Hehehehehe

Not entirely sure yet, but it's down to UCSF or Mayo. Both great schools. Mayo giving me full ride, but the location is... well, it's Minnesota, while SF is awesome place to live, but who knows how much I'll be receiving. Seems like I have to wait till the financial aid package arrives.

I am actually going to start a thread later to hopefully gather other people's opinions on my Case/Loyola dilemma. I only have a minute right now before class, so I'll have to cut it short for now.... Before I interviewed at both of them, I would have picked Case hands down over Loyola, mostly because of their reputation and emphasis on research and the Cleveland Clinic and stuff. However, after visiting Loyola, I absolutely fell in love w/it for a number of reasons, some big and some little. For instance, the facilities are immaculate - from the lecture hall to the "health resort" (gym) to the gross anatomy lab. Rotation sites like the Hines VA and Ronald McDonald Children's Hospital are amazing from what I understand. NCI-supported Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center is def. a plus since I am interested in cancer research. But Case of course has their own Comprehensive Cancer Center, so I guess that's a wash. Loyola's going paperless ( 👍 ), great curriculum w/ small group learning, "communities" (which seems pretty cool) etc., etc. Some people don't like the fact that it's a Jesuit school, but the only thing that means for the SOM is that they don't do abortions at the teaching hospitals (which is cool with me). BTW, Loyola is in Chicago.

Case is simply a great school. I really can't think of anything bad about it. Some people probably won't like the mandatory thesis that will be required for the 2005 entering class, but I'm into research and have a research background so that'll be great w/ me. Rotation sites are of course awesome w/ the Cleveland Clinic and all. Facilities are nice, but frankly I was much more impressed with Loyola in that respect. I understand that Case's reputation is probably stronger than Loyola's, but not sure how much I care about that. I have a friend attending Case, and he's got all sorts of good stuff to say about it in terms of the match list and what not.

OHSU is a great school, and having shadowed docs quite a bit at the teaching hospital and the adjacent VA left a favorable impression on me. But like I say, I don't know how much more freaking rain I can take

Crap I gotta go... I'll pick up later

::adds loyola onto list::

i'm a sucker for pretty campuses w/ super-nice facilities

well, good luck with your decision. I would be thrilled if any of these schools accept me next year 😀

Me too 😀 Of all the schools I interviewed at, Loyola was unequivocally the best in terms of facilities. It is just beautiful.

As soon as the snow starts melting and those waitlists start rolling, I'll post again. But for now, it's MCW all the way. Go…. Wait, I don’t think they have a sports team. 😕 😉
