It’s starting to sound like the new area that has growth potential. Anyone have experience in this arena? My colleague recommend the University of Illinois Master’s program. Also, the ASHP certificate program in infomatics. I’m stuck in my current trajectory of independent compounding/outpatient. Like I’m stuck in this gang, because the “Don” won’t let me leave. I’ll take your advice,

Thanks

Hi, I am kinda in the same boat as you. Trying to find a way out of retail before it is too late. I am also looking into informatics as one of the possibilities. I am currently contacting a member here who is an informatics specialist at a major clinic. I can pm you his email if you want. Anyways glad to see someone else who is also on a similar path as I am and hope to keep in touch!

You're not too far from Epic HQ. Perhaps you could look into that as a route, with or without informatics. I have heard of pharmacists taken as consultants for Epic. With an informatics background I'm sure there is even more room for growth in that and similar companies. I did a short informatics internship in Illinois and I found it extremely interesting.

Im interested in informatics. I love tech and remembered this guy who did consulting mention that it was the "future field"
I wanted to work retail and do an online masters until I saw the price tag...
I was considering the certificate first but i wasnt sure if that would help
I planned on getting HIMSS certified- Certified Associate in Health Information & Management Systems

Everyone I've spoken with was given the position based on years or just given the position not necessarily actual skill.

I have a BS in Comp Science with around 15 year experience. Got my CPHIMS last year and starting on ASHP cert. Hard field to break into and I always thought I had experience. I guess they want 2 free years of residency labor before they hire someone.
