i called ADA and they said it will take 4 weeks for dental schools to receive my official scores. i took the DAT on august 21st, so they probably won't get my scores until mid-september. do i just sit on my ass in the meantime? i wish there was some way i could track this info but a lot of schools don't seem to update their AADSAS statuses...

That's all you can do. It's pretty annoying. I took mine on 8/8 and still am not sure if the scores are out yet.

Same situation...it's really lame sitting around waiting for schools to receive my scores while everyone else is getting interviews! I'm stopping by Kinko's tomorrow after class and I have all my schools' numbers and I am calling every one of them and finding out if they'll take faxed unofficial scores. Hopefully it'll hurry this waiting game along a bit. 😛

ya me too..i really really hate this waiting game! I took the DAT on August 11th. I called Penn on Monday and they said they havent recieved it yet. A couple of schools just sent me emails saying my application is complete and is being considered for interviews. I wish I had a time machine to fast forward the next couple of weeks!

Question to y'all:

Did you guys do individual letters of recommendations or a pre-health committee? If the latter, that likely means that you needed a DAT score FIRST before they interviewed you.

So if you're like me and you took a late DAT (in august) AND had to wait for a DAT score to have a committee letter interview (which for me takes place next week), your waiting for 2 key things for your AADSAS application. sooooo.... yeah. things are at a stand-still......😕

I took my DATs on 8/12 and I called ADA today, they said that the schools got my scores 8/27..which is like 2 weeks after my test...but i haven't heard from any schools saying that my application is complete...and ADA says they don't send out hardcopies of the scores...so I guess the hold up is at the schools?

Faxing the unofficial ones would have been a good idea, but I'm still waiting on a committee letter anyway, sooo...

I am hoping it'll all just come together all at once, on it's own, very soon.

I am not sure but I took mine aug 28 and I have an interview at Indiana. I sent some unofficial scores to schools that approved. I am not sure when my official scores will arrive.

I just called some schools today to ask about faxing unofficial scores, and a few of them actually told me the electronic scores (took DAT Aug 14) had been received: UF, Louisville, UoP. Maryland and Midwestern said they hadn't received them yet but probably would with the next download. And couldn't get in touch with anyone at Nova, Case, Marquette, Tufts, or UKentucky.

I think the early-mid Aug DAts scores should be sent out already...some schools just haven't downloaded them yet..yea it just doesn'tt make sense for ADA to process a computerize test in 4 week...

Thanks vlct0ria, this is good news. It sounds like there's just a delay with the AADSAS status page getting updated in some cases, then.

same here! Took the DAT August 11th...and schools have been sending me notifications that my apps are complete! I called Upenn on yesterday and they said they just recieved them in the morning...so i'd say average waiting time should be 3 weeks! some schools get it earlier..some later.

ADA sends the DAT scores electronically to all schools at the same time. It depends on when the school decides to download the reports & put scores with your application. Some do it right away, unfortunately others take their time.

BTW, you DO get a hard copy from the ADA a few weeks after the test.

yes, this is generally correct. i took my dat august 21, and i am just now having my Committee tomorrow (Sept 8). they need a score to better assess your strength as an applicant.

So question: I keep hearing that ppl who applied after about mid august are kind of late in the application process, so wouldn't it be true that those who are waiting for their for DAT scores to be sent by about now are really late in the application process as well since they won't be reviewed until those scores are in?! just wondering..

nyu finally emailed me today saying my application is complete, almost 3 weeks after i took the DAT. a couple other schools updated their aadsas statuses saying my application is now under review, but i think most schools are still waiting for my scores.

from the schools i applied to, nyu, maryland, and tufts take faxed scores (initially) so if anyone applied there, fax your scores asap!!!!!

I was just wondering.....Do dental schools have to have the DAT scores it before the deadline or do they except pending marks....just because (yes I know I'm late) but I'm writting in October and deadlines range from Nov 1 - January....Would writting this late be a complete waste of time or should I still see if something happens...

hmm I wrote my DAT 8/26 and scanned and emailed my scores the same night - to the 6 schools I'm applying to - only one of them emailed me back to say 'thank you we received your unofficial scores and have added them to your file'

I've heard horror stories where my friends have had older MCAT scores sent to schools, instead of the newer, better scores. I'm very tempted to call ADA tomorrow - especially since Buffalo just emailed me saying they're waiting on my DAT scores

I took my DAT 8/18 and they didnt mail out my scores untill 9/17. And even then, for some reason not all universities got the scores. Boston is still missing my new DAT scores as of yesterday.

ADA is really terrible. No better than AADSAS.

On top of this whole delay, they made another stupid mistake of only sending out my old DAT scores from last yr. WIth these DAT scores received the schools checked the DAT section of my file and marked it complete. SO Indiana and New Jersey reviewed my application and I got rejected.

I have called and called ADA and they are very irresponsible. Its costing me my chances of getting in a school.

I had to call every single university I applied to and tell them that ADA still has to send my DAT scores from this year so they should wait to review my application.

I really hope boston gets my scores next week. They download every friday. I just don't get why they get them this friday when every other school had them. Weird huh!! makes me think if ADA made a 3rd mistake and forgot to upload the scores for boston. 😡

ANyways all those with same problems --- CALL THE SCHOOLS ASAP.

You are right. They do not mail the scores. They are uploaded. Universities just download them. The universities you selected not to send your scores to (even if you applied to them and they have your app and social) will not be able to download the scores.

I just don't get why some had to wait almost a month.

I took it on the Sep 3rd and ADA told me it was available on the 14th. This means that schools can access them now, right?

guys, i FINALLY got interview invites today!!!! i took the DAT over a month ago and have been waiting anxiously. some schools still have yet to receive my DAT score, it seems, but at least i am getting responses now. whew!!!
