I applied to 10 MSTPs and am anxiously awaiting to hear back. I heard from most schools that my app was under review, but that was weeks ago. I am getting nervous. I know my application is pretty average, 31 MCAT and 3.98 GPA, 2 years research. I don't think there is anything that sets me above and beyond the ordinary. Anyone else waiting, and how are you taking it?

Err... that's a pretty not-so-average GPA.

I'm also playing the waiting game. I think the best strategy is try not to think about it, and try to stay away from this forum and hearing about everybody else's interviews and acceptances.

Of course, I'm not really able to follow my own advice, so I don't know...

I don't really see why you need to be freaking out yet...I mean seriously most of the programs I applied to don't even have their first interview weekends until December...thats still almost two months away...So while some people may start to get some feedback right now there are a lot of us who are kinda of floating around...Some advice I was given about MSTP when I started applying was that if you are qualified (I.E. 3.7+, MCAT 80th percentile, and applicable research experience (s) ) you stand a great chance of getting in somewhere, you've got to remember there are a ton of people who apply MD/PhD who are looking for a free degree or are playing some sort of statistical game they think will help their chances of obtaining an MD. In the end you've got a great shot to go somewhere so save the worrying until February when all the decisions are being handed out.

I'm also waiting and trying to pump out more secondaries. I am getting very discouraged. I have also have a mediocre MCAT score (32Q) compared to all of the superstars. I am so close to just stopping now and reapplying next summer...EARLY. I come from a public university with no medical school. Not much people here know about applying to MD/PhD programs, so I didn't realize how imperative it is to apply early. It is difficult at this point to watch everybody else on this thread roll in inteview invites. It feels like all that I have worked toward is slipping through my fingers. So, I am right there with you...waiting. There are probably more of us just watching SDN behind the scenes, so I agree with ZenAlchemy...it is not good for us to keep looking at SDN. It destroys confidence. I also do not listen to my own advice.

By the way...at this point, are you guys writing completely new research experience essays and "why MD/PhD" essays for the secondaries? I know the people who applied early did, but it is probably better just to submit the secondaries as soon as possible.

I'm not sure why this didn't update the thread, so I am posting to update it.
