Christmas eve/Christmas morning shift for me. Nice mix of sick people needing procedures, febrile children needing rapid dispos and one or two psychotic, PD-pissing-off people just to keep it interesting.

I just got home and got to see my daughter's face as she read the note Santa left for her! Everything is much better now.

Hmm... I don't work in an ED, but I did volunteer overnight last night at a call-in crisis center. Does that count?

I was on as house officer last night...just got home. Too many admits, sent 1 from the floor to the unit, a DNR died, and I left this morning with a comfort measures only pt near death. Not the most cheerful shift.

Christmas eve/Christmas day night shift. Back again tonight. A couple of GSWs, Code, many preg vag bleeders for some reason...nothing as cool as the aortic dissection with an intimal flap on ED U/S the night before
