Why are TV's getting slimmer?

Big screen TVs.

Have you seen those old 1000 pound CRT monsters?

I'm using a 42 inch LCD right now to type this. There would have no way I could have fit a 42 inch CRT on my desk.

lol i want aa 42 inch lcd, actually i much rather have 4 21 inch lcds, but still. whats the DPI on your 42 inch

It is probably due to all of the asians getting into med schools because of affirmative action.

Have you ever tried carrying a regular TV through a flight of stairs?
Thank God for flat, lighter TVs.

It's a 1080p set. I haven't seen dot pitch (DPI) since CRTs were mainstream. I imagine it is much larger than the normal .28 dot pitch. It's crystal clear though. I love it. I definetly recommend it. Bigger is better. 👍

Well, apparently the manufacturers realized that there was an 87.896423145768754% obesity rate among televisions, and that the rate of system failure was increasing.

So, the thinning down is just an attempt to make TV's healthier again. 😉

Older tvs used to take up soooooooo much space especially if you have a big screen. By having a flat screen tv you free up a lot of space in a room to make it look more roomie and bigger rather then crowded. For instance I was at a friend's house and they have a plasma tv. Their living room is pretty small when compared to ours so when they have parties and need the space having a tv that is flat helps reduce a lot of the need for tv space and use that to more rooms to set up chairs around the room for extra guests who are coming over.

Its the same thing with flat screen monitors. For people who get desktops for any reason, the flat screen monitors are much better because they give you much more room on your desk. Instead of taking up the whole space they take up minimal space allowing you space to push your monitor back so you can put your books in front of you and other things in front of ou while studying.

I'm all for thinner tvs and monitors, but I don't watch any tv at all cuz I am not really a fan of it. if I bought a big screen it would be for watching DVDs of movies on mostly even if I owned cable at any point in the future because i don't really care for tv shows but I do love to watch a good movie whether its Indian or American movies.
