I was just wondering what everyone's reasoning is for attending or choosing the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.

If I decide to attend, it will be strictly because of the tuition, and the fact that my wife and I have a house here and both of our families are here.

I guess I should answer my own question since there hasn't been much of a response.

1. It's a good primary care school
2. International opportunities to Latin America
3. Cheap tuition
4. Diverse patient population at surrounding hospitals
5. Diverse Student body
6. Early clinical experience
7. New facilities
8. Cheap area to live
9. Research interest in queer/latino populations
10. Option to do a MD/MPH
11. Problem based learning

I think these are most of them. I was just wondering what were other people's thoughts.

Close to family & friends
Own a house in ABQ already
Hubby won't need to find a new job
Won't need to worry about daycare for my baby (grandma lives down the street)
Interested in OB/GYN and like the dept at UNM
Able to continue research I'm already working on at UNM
Cheap tuition

...but I need to get off the waitlist too ;)
