Ok, I may be dumber than I think but why aren't Hahneman or Wake and Northwestern on my AMCAS list of schools? I hate to call them tomorrow only to sit and wait on hold for an hour (and not toll-free, and at work no less ... ).

You guys have any idea why these schools aren't on my list? Am I reading something wrong? Are these schools special or is my system messed up? 😕

Thanks !

interesting. wake and northwestern were both definitely listed when i turned in amcas on june 5th. make sure you're using the state filter correctly. not positive about hahn, though.

Hahnemann may be listed as Drexel

Holy Cow! You guys are right - I didn't really know about the Drexel / Hahneman merger (isn't that right?) altho it sounds familiar now I read the comment.

The thing with the Wake/Northwestern is too embarassing to admit: I had already added them a couple of weeks ago and was using an old print out to anotate. Dang ... ! I have got to get this thing submitted and get a life here. The truth is I've been looking at my list for like an hour and didn't even "see" them there 😱

see persia, now you've got an interesting story to tell during your interviews at these places. 😉

That would NOT be something I would bring up in an Interview, especially since the "merger" happened a while ago. Just shows you really didn't want to go there, nor did you pay attention. I would steer very clear of that topic!

They spend about an hour talking about the convoluted history of Drxel/MCP/Haneman/etc on the interview day. So if you do ask about it at your interview it'll be redundant. The merger didn't happen too long ago, though. My 2000 Princeton Review book on medical schools listed it as MCP Hahneman (am I dating myself?). When I filled out the AMCAS for 2003 entrance, I wasn't looking for Drexel, either.

What is now Drexel University College of Medicine is very intent on letting everyone know that the past financial woes are just that: in the past. Although I declined an acceptance there, I was impressed with their teaching facilities and technology initiatives.

if it makes you feel any better, i think on last year's AMCAS it was still listed as MCP/Hahneman. I even vaguely remember the secondary taking a long time to show up because they were printing new stationary (although I think this is an unsubstantiated rumor).

Well, my Kaplan 2003 Medical school Admissins Guide calls it: "Allegheny University of the Health Sciences" (Formerly Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hanhnemann University).

How's that for more confusion! Drexel's not even mentioned ... 😕

This like the bank on the corner used to be a Bank of Boston, but then it was BayBoston, then Fleet Boston then I don't really know ...
