Why can't MD schools be more transparent about when WL movement will occur?

I'm curious why med schools choose not to be more clear about this, especially now during the WL movement season. It would honestly take so much stress off my shoulders knowing when I may get off the WL at a couple schools. Any thoughts?

It's unfortunately just an inherent part of what a waitlist is. Class sizes are constantly changing, so there is no way for them to "guarantee" if and when a student may hear from a school. The waitlist process can be brutal, but schools don't do this just to purposely make the process harder for students. If they did offer that type of information and then they are unable to start pulling based on the class profile at that time, to me, that is a lot more challenging than knowing now is when schools roughly start to pull people from the WL every year. keep your head up!!

The list is long. We don't know how WL movement will shake out ourselves!

Many schools have programs with guaranteed admission for those who meet particular criteria (including the result of exams at the end of the program).
Unexpected yields.
Unexpected yields and WL movement at peer institutions (poaching).
Changes in administrative mandates.

I could go on. The only thing that is sure, is that once WL movement has started at a given school, it may continue until school starts.

Here's a blunt, but accurate method for deal with the stress of WL time (delicate flowers will be triggered over this):
