First cycle. tbh very blessed to be where I am at right now. 4 IIs, all MD schools. Did not apply DO (maybe to consider if reapplying next year) however I feel a little discouraged. 2 IIs turned into WL, and I haven't heard back from the other 2 schools. Radio silence from about 9 schools (realistically going to turn into Rs later in the cycle) what is one piece of advice for an applicant like me? this process is brutal. I know there is still time but with no As I feel like I am hanging by a thread

Well, hang in there. You got a lot of attention, so it boils down to things outside of your control. The other two schools with no decisions should send something to you soon as CYMS season approaches (March).

Definitely took quite a shot not applying with DOs with my metrics. I am really happy about how it turned out so far though.

I agree you have done quite well. It's just for the benefit of a safety net given the low MCAT, but we'll have to trust the process.

It's a waiting game. You are in a good position that you had 4 II's, so hopefully one of them turns out. If you have significant updates and the school says they are receptive to them, that may be a worthwhile pursuit. A semester of grade grades counts if you're still taking classes.

I am reminded of a line from John Irving's novel, The Hotel New Hampshire: "Keep passing the open windows."

On a more hopeful note, with 4 IIs and 2 WLs, there is a strong likelighood that you'll be an MD in 4 years.

If you need to reapply, apply DO as well as MD.

I'd also keep up (or restart) some of your clinical and non-clinical volunteering. If you have opportunity, maybe seek out a different position, unless happy with what you're currently doing. A new experience would give you something to reflect on and write about in an update letter. And if you do need to reapply, it would allow you to show growth and new insights.

Finally, if you do need to reapply and prefer MD over DO, would you consider retaking the MCAT?

Hopefully, you won't need most of this advice because you will be accepted soon, but if you do need, starting on it sooner than later can only help both in terms of the WLing schools and a possible reapplication.

Ended up getting my second acceptance (4 yr M.D) program! Definitely needed a little bit of patience. I remain in 2 WL, but sure I will start medical school in the fall! My top choice WL‘ed me but I am happy with my outcomes at this moment!
