Why Creighton?
Started by flower123
So I am doing the supplement application for creighton and the question is why creighton university..i honestly don't know anything about the university and I am trying to read about it on their website. Does anyone have any ideas...anything about the school? pros/cros..anything..just trying to become familiar.
Why Creighton? Because accumulating $300,000 in debt BEFORE you compound the interest just sounds like so much fun!!!!!
But seriously, Omaha is a decent place. Creighton is not exactly in the best neighborhood and they have the armed guards outside the ER to prove it. Outside of the NE side of town, where Creighton is, there is plenty to keep you occupied when you are not studying. Cost of living is very reasonable. As for the dental school itself, I don't know much about it. I never investigated any programs from Creighton because of the outrageous cost and I'm not a "legacy student" and wouldn't get any discount.

would you like us to fill out your secondaries? is it only creighton or do you have other schools which you require assistance with.
Hi, could you tell me when your application was complete and sent out? I also applied to Creighton and was wondering how long it took you to receive the secondary.
My app was finally complete Sep 3rd.
Thanks
you don't need to wait for them to receive their secondary. it's up on their website. plus it says for you to send in the secondary when you submit your aadsas.
go to your dental school designation under checklist, once there click on supplemental information to see what you need to do. hope this helps.

No prob. I wouldn't believe everything this guy says. He's wrong about the outrageous price. All private dental schools are expensive, but Creighton is one of the cheapest private dental schools. I am a D4 here and there are no armed guards outside the ER. I love it here and when you get an interview, come check it out and decide for yourself. good luck

One would think a D4 student should be able to say a few more things about their school…..

Don't wanna argue, I already posted above, but here's more info on another post that I replied to. I copied and pasted:
Creighton is one of the best schools clinically in the nation. They always rank in top 3 in operative for national boards and consistently rank in the top 10 in overall scores the last 7-9 years. We are probably the only school in the nation to have more patients than we can handle. For that, we have to reject some patients. I know other schools have a hard time finding patients. For example, some of my friends needed extraction requirements. There was a patient coming in with a full mouth extraction and it was done by 3 students because they needed credit. Here, we do so many extractions that by the time you leave, you will be very comfortable. Also, I think we are only(or one of the few schools in the nation) school that let students do implants. As I said before, we don't have any specialties(post doc programs) so if our patients need endo, we do it. Some of my friends have done a total of 2-3 root canals throughout their years in dental school. It's rare to find people who've graduated here have less than 10-15 root canal treatments. As you can see, the things they teach you here will definitely prepare you to work on your own right off the bat after graduation.
Creighton trains general dentists. I'm sure schools like Harvard, UCLA, UCSF and more have a better specialization rate. But if you want to do general dentistry, there is not a better school than Creighton. Good luck!
