What's wrong with the reasons you just gave? Dude, you can't give rehersed, robotic, generic answers to questions like this. If you sit in an interview and give the same answers everyone else gives, and not stumble over your own words, it doesn't mean you aced the interview. You have to stand out and be unique.
I got this question and basically said what you just said. There's nothing taboo about bringing up the money thing, just be careful how you word it. Saying things like, "I like the idea of my future family not having to worry about putting food on the table or paying for my kids' college" is fine.
Oh, and while we're on the interview thing, make sure you talk about the bad aspects of dentistry, and how you'll be equiped to deal with them. Malpractice, bastard patients, insurance, etc. If you show them you're not nieve about what you are about to get yourself into, they'll love you. Hell, worked for me.

thanks. good info. but how should i start off. like what should be my first senctance, or where to start it from???
help me out.
thank u

While I think that's a legit reason, I definitely would stay away from saying that specifically in an interview. If you really have to, you could phrase it like you like the idea of having a job that will allow you and your family to have a nice lifestyle. I mean, let's get real. There are other jobs out there that will allow you to "put food on the table" and if you're already qualified for an interview, you could probably land one of them. Remember, you're trying to get into dental school, not win an Oscar.

First and formost, at this point you should def know why you want to be a dentist. I know why I do...and it not b/c of lifestyles and pay. You need to dig down deep and understand why you are pursuing a dental eduacation. Maybe then you would see. I have worked so hard and long to achieve my goal to be admitted to dental school, and I hope you realize that a ton other peolple do as well. I may be a little booozed up but i always tell the truth.

Peace

because I couldnt get into medical school after two tries but dental accepted me really quickly.

You said that it is a neat job. You could elaborate on why you think its neat and how that appeals to you. Just do some deep thinking on your goals.

thaTS AWESOME, THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!

three symbols, $$$. Personally i wanted to work in business, but then realized how foolish that was becuase of no job stability. Searched around and found Dentistry to be a great alternative, my own practice plus a great chunk of change to take home each year. Itll be great to be my own boss.

One for the money, two for the ......

So when your out drinking with your buddies and one of your hot patients walk in you can tell your friends that you drilled her.
