Why do you want to be a dentist ?
plz tell me the actual reasons why you are becoming a dentist. do you actually like the profession or you just want money and a good life style.

I have read and seen so many dentist complaining about the work they do and the everyday struggle as a dental student or as a dentist.

what do you expect from this choice of your career ?
where do you see yourself in next few years?
Where you will be practicing ?
how much you will be earning ?
how many hours do you work ? (as a dental student or dentist )
what will be your lifestyle ?
will you get time to do other things or to spend time with family or doing other things like for your entertainment or doing side business ?

Do you think it would have been better if you did something else or choose different career field ,not be a dentist ?

what are you doing or a dental student must do to be a better dentist ?

Thanks.

Because its the easiest way to become an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon 🙂

I will be very thankful🙂 if you answer my question and it will also help others in knowing what they can expect further , because every one want answers to these type of questions.

I love the profession. I have been a dental hygienist for years and hope to get into dental school. I continue to be fascinated by how far dentistry has come in the last 10-15 years.
I get excited when I see unusual things. For instance I had a 20 something year old patient who had 13 supernumerary teeth! I have the panorex to prove it. Last week I had a 6 year old with his 4 lower incisors fused together, N and O then P and Q.
I also like talking to my patients and helping to educate them.......even after all these years.
I think when people do anything just for the money they are prostituting themselves. You couldn't pay me to be a lawyer, I would be F'n miserable! I would rather do something I love.
I don't know what our lifestyle will be (I have a family). I just want to be comfortable, be able to take a few vacations every year, and put my boys through college.
I think as a dentist (maybe not right after school) but eventually you can work 35 hours a week and live comfortably and have plenty of time for family.

Funny 🙂

But isn't it easier when you become a doctor first?

To avoid hijacking the thread I will add that I got into it because its the perfect career which blends science, health, small business ownership, working with your hands to produce something, working with thousands of different people and a decent lifestyle.

If by doctor you mean physician or medical doctor then the answer is no, not from the information I have received. If you get the MD first, you have to go to dental school (assuming you get advanced standing, which is a big assumption), then a four year residency so it comes out to be the same (10 years), if you can get the advanced standing, more if you don't. This of course assumes you want the MD, otherwise you can do it in 7-8 years getting the dental degree first, depending on the dental school you go to.

Note: oral surgery is a dental specialty not a medical specialty, overseen by the ADA not the AMA, hence the necessity for the dental degree.

Q) why you want to be a dentist?
Answer they give ) because its a field in which there is science and artistic work involved and i love working with new instruments and machines.

can you plz describe it in detail mainly i want to know your experience in this dental field.

how much you will be earning ?

OR

Do you know any dentist with excellent earnings ?

I want to be a dentist because I am happy to help other teeth, to keep teeth healthy.
I love my career, I choose this because I like it.
And the earning is good so no problem for that. I don't need any career or any any extra business because I am satisfied of what i have done for now.
