why do killed vaccines NOT get cellular immunity

Its still dead PROTEINS that are being engulfed and presented to CD4 cells right? I mean, how is it possible to get humoral immunity WITHOUT cell mediated immunity?

For example, the killed influenza vaccine eventually gets IgG antibodies against the strain. How is this possible without sensitized CD4 cells as well? Or is it just CD4 cells that are sensitized to dead proteins and not necessarily an alive strain?

I dont think the CD8 cells can become fully activated without having an antigen presented to them via MHC1 receptor.

I'm pretty lousy at immunology, but doesn't it have something to do with killed vaccines only providing humoral immunity , a la IgG antibodies

Whereas cell mediated immunity provides memory cells

ah my bad. it appears I thought CD4 cells were PART of cell mediated immunity but thats wrong. cell mediated immunity is in reference to CD8 cells

CD4 cells aren't part of humoral OR cell mediated (although they mediate each) immunity

and yeah, you can't get "cell mediated immunity" because the virus isn't alive to infect a random cell and then be presented via MHC I

bingo. you need to infect a cell and then be presented on the MHC in order to get cellular immunity. Killed vaccine's can't do that obviously.
