I didn't mention osteopathic medicine specifically either, and I think it's fine. Just prepare an answer. If a secondary asks, write out a meaningful answer. If an interviewer ask, verbalize a meaningful answer.

I don't think I mentioned osteopathic medicine in my PS. You will have the opportunity to discuss osteopathic medicine to your heart's content in secondaries and interviews. I wouldn't sweat it. Good luck!

You do not need to mention "osteopathic medicine" or "why DO" in your PS.

Do not worry or freak out in any way if you didn't - most people, including myself, used the same PS for AACOMAS as AMCAS and answered the question "why medicine" in general and "why me."

You will have opportunities to address" why DO" in your secondaries and extensively in your interviews. Have a succinct, meaningful answer for that question ready to roll off your tongue.

👍 Exactly this.

Why medicine is really the only thing you should be answering on the PS. You could pretty much guess that interviews at DO schools are going to ask you why DO... Wouldn't you rather have new material at that interview than just the redundancy of your PS?

You don't need to address "why DO" in your PS, but you can if it's integral to your story. I know I spent a significant portion of my PS telling a story that related to it.

But many schools ask you that question anyway.

Agreed. I am one of the success stories w/o putting why DO in the PS.

Rest assured, this question will come up during interviews. Just answer it then.

some 2ndries will ask that, but more then likely be prepared to talk about it during your interviews....

What everyone else said. 🙂
