Why do schools differentiate between BCPM and AO?

Why do schools do this? Does only 1 of the GPAs affect their rankings or both, as it seems they only list overall GPA on their websites? Is it bad if my BCPM GPA is ~0.1 lower than my AO?

Probably to make it easier to spot when applicants try to pad their GPA with fluff classes in less applicable disciplines that are perceived as "easier". 0.1 is not really going to be a substantive difference. Aim to do well on both.

Relax. The point was made: often we want to know how you do specifically in the core science coursework. AO coursework GPA is generally higher than quantitative science courses so don't worry about it.

A .1 difference in those two averages is meaningless.
