baby, just to let me down.......

So, I've been calling the ICO admissions office since Thursday to find out if I got in. And today, they finally had some news for me. DISAPPOINTING news (not THAT bad news). So, they told me they hadn't reviewed my file yet (at that point I wanted to say wtf, but of course I refrained). Apparently, my interviewer was not present at the admissions meeting, so my file, along with the others who had Dr. G got passed up.... until NOV 11. I spoke to the Dean of Admissions as well as the admissions officers, and there was nothing else they could tell me. I'm just so disappointed I need to vent my frustration 🙁

I applied to ICO super early because they were the first ones that came out with applications and I was hoping that I would find out early if I got in so I wouldn't have to apply to other schools. WHAT SHOULD I DO? Is there anything I CAN do? I was thinking of writing them a letter or something, but that might come off in the wrong way. I can't sit here and wait another 2 weeks, which will probably turn into another 4 weeks!!

This really makes me mad, because I was the 2nd person to be interviewed. I mean, if I had my interview mid october, maybe it wouldn't bug me as much having to wait till November. But now, I feel as if all my effort to get everything done early was just wasted. If they end up not accepting me, I'll be even more disappointed.

Anyways, I just had to get this out. I feel a little better now (actually, not really because now I have to study for my exam in 2 hours). Sigh, ICO is still my top choice 👍 but I can't believe this just happened. 👎

Hang in there. Once you get accepted this will become a funny story to tell next year's class waiting to hear if they got in. 😉

Oh. I'm sure they're working on that. My roomate is still waiting for his too, they sent it in about the same time.

ICO is getting slow 🙁 My interview was on the 29th, and they told me I would find out in 2 weeks. Now I have to wait over a month! My marks are somewhere between 3.3 and 3.4. with a 360 TS. What do you think my chances are? 😕 People tell me I will get in, but I dunno. I feel uncertain because I got rejected from Waterloo last year.

According to opted.org your stats above average for ICO. I' hope you get in, because I have similar stats! does being a Canadian hinder your selection process? What other schools are you applying to?

From what I heard, ICO accepts the most Canadians compared to other schools...it's probably because it's a private school and tuition costs the same for everybody. Also...they need 150 people to fill their seats. I think you'll get in...no need to worry.

Well i sent my app in at the beginning of August and didn't get an interview invite till Oct. So it might be a while longer till you hear back.

So, here's an update on my situation:

After talking to my interviewer, dean of admissions, chair of the admissions committee, and everyone else in between, I found out that I have no choice but to wait until the next meeting mid Novemeber for a decision. Funny thing is, my interviewer apparently will not be in the attendance of that meeting either. 😕

I am in an emotional pickle right now. I still really like ICO as a school, but admissions has got me up to here. Some of them were bold enough to tell me that I am the only person that seems so worried about this wait, in a way that makes it seem like they think no other student would be worried. Am I wrong to be worried? If I had kept my family up to date with this situation, they would definitely tell me to withdraw my application but right now to them, it's "there are a lot of applicants this year, they haven't got to my application yet".

I would relax a little.... I know it's hard to wait... but I'm sure you're fine. If you keep harassing them they will get annoyed. You can't pressure them into making a quick decision .. and if you do they might just snap and say "no". Then, you'd really be stuck.

The only thing to do in this case is relax. I didn't get acceptances til February... and my school was still accepting people last April. Nothing to stress over yet... if it were March I'd be more concerned.

And guess what, I call in and they HAVEN'T even processed my transcript! It's so stressing just waiting and waiting and having spent the extra cash to get my stuff there early. Now instead of beating the rush, I'm IN the rush. Great. I feel like a sausage hung out to dry.

Same here, except the sausage hung out to dry part.

I'm a current third year at ICO.

When I applied here, I submitted my app August 1st, had a secondary a week later and interviewed Sept 11. About two weeks after that I got a letter saying that after my OAt scores came in, they would tell me if I was in or not. I knew I was in just after OATs came out in november.

They have been getting a ton of applicants the last couple of years-I believe about 800 last year.

It's a great school--dont let the admissions people determine whether you come here or not. The clinical program is tops. Just within the last two weeks I've seen an advanced lymphoma and herpes simplex keratitis.

yep... relaxing is definitely key... this should be a good note to all of those applying for the upcoming year of entrance

Anyways, if anyone is wondering, JC1984 did get into ICO.
