This application service is brutal! Six weeks to process an application is unacceptable. Office hours of 9:15AM to 3PM??? It takes forever to get someone on the phone. We spend too much money on applications to have to deal with such a **** for service company. It is ridiculous that we do not have a way to circumvent a process that is archaic at best. With online applications this process should take no more than a week.

All you can do is endure my man. It's a crapshoot.

Yeah they do suck big ones... They should take some pointers from AMCAS lol

Remind me to take VCOM off of my list. This isn't about patience. This is about paying for a service that is lousy and being forced to use it.

Patience is waiting. Not passively waiting. That is laziness.

I'm still waiting to be verified......8.5 week here. I keep calling and they keep saying next week!!!!!!!!!!!

In their defense, they also work on Saturday and Sunday too, something that I would definitely not expect of them. It seems like that their efficiency does need to be worked on though.

i would have to agree to the starter of this thread. the service does stuck! they lost my transcript and it took them 3 weeks to find it before they were able to even start my verification process.

At least I know that I am not alone. It will be 6 weeks Thursday.

Finally verified today! 8 weeks and a few days. AMCAS took took 2.5 weeks. Both applications were submitted on the same day. What does that say about service?

My experience was the exact opposite. AACOMAS took 4 weeks right on the dot. AMCAS took 7.5 weeks. I actually had to email & call AMCAS wondering if my application was lost in the corner somewhere. Miraculously the day I called, it was finally verified. I'm wondering if I didn't contact them if it would've ever been finished. 🙄

I sent an email to AACOMAS yesterday asking about by status. They sent back that they were working on apps from 8/3. Since mine had been submitted on 8/11 it will be a bit longer. 6 weeks today. (I'm showing it was submitted on 8/13, but I won't argue that with them)
And to think, their hand book sayes it will take 3 to 6 weeks for processing. :bang:

I submitted 7/28 and my transcripts got there 8/3. They said they were missing my post bacc classes from the same school, but everything was sent on the same transcript that they had already received.

Took another 4 days and a phone call to get that fixed so I guess I was all checked marked on 8/7 and today will be end of week 7 going on to week 8.

In the meantime, there are numerous threads of what the secondary app of schools are asking and this waiting period should be spent preparing for those, so that once we're finally verified and those secondary's come we can send secondary's out immediately!

does anyone have a number to directly speak to someone? i'm waiting on week 7 now, and I am just starting on secondaries. stay positive guys!

my AMCAS processed in 3.5 weeks...why is AACOMAS taking forever? ...🙁...and i believe there are more students apply to MD than DO..i could be wrong...

Same here, my AMCAS just got verified yesterday - I submitted on 9/5. Very fast, but I'm afraid my AAMCOS app will not be verified until 11/10 (submitted on 9/8)

I guess all we can do is complain on forums like this.

no question about it... I think AACOMAS takes too much time with the apps.. They do have thousands of apps coming in but there's no reason to take 8 wks to verify someone.. Unless there's something else they do, that we don't know about...
da worst part is that WE HAVE TO USE IT!!!

Maybe AACOMAS has less staffing than AMCAS? Who knows.
No one ever picked up the phone when I called but they did answer all my e-mail queries within a week.

I finally got an employee to pick up the phone. He said applications were running 6 weeks, so I told him to pull up my application. Then I showed him that I am at 8 weeks. He then said that they were running at about 7-8 weeks for some applications.

With most schools having secondaries online, why don't they just bypass AACOMAS and AMCAS directly? It would be more work for us, but it would definitely save time.

Wow, this discussion only has under 1,000 posts. I thought it could easily garner into the millions. That service is so poor. The message has some ditz on it. My help guy was the same guy everytime, so I know he was as overworked as ever and trying to get me off the phone as soon as possible everytime. Then they got my transcript the third time around. Ohhhh, that was aggravating. Apparently the busy season is all year-round with these folks.

This is pretty ridiculous. I submitted AACOMAS on 8/25 (obviously I'm not verified yet) but I submitted AMCAS on 9/11 and it was verified today. Unbelievable.

Oooh, sounds good but wouldnt happen. When you think about it, what is the big thing AACOMAS does so the schools dont have to? Verify transcript info. These schools only have like 3-4 people in their admission office, how many more would they need to verify thousands of transcripts?? A lot, because they would even be able to screen out applicants based on GPA without doing that.

Other than that, the majority of what you do on AACOMAS gets done all over again on the secondary, except for a few specific essay questions.

Completed 8/7 verified 9/30....FINALLY!

INSANITY!!! But my pre-med advisor sent me an email a few weeks back saying that AMCAS has received a record-high number of apps. (this was around mid-August) for this time of the year and have never received this many so early in the process. It was an official press release from AMCAS, and she said that AACOMAS is reporting the same thing as well. But still, AMCAS is receiving more than AACOMAS, with the higher #s, and are still getting done earlier for the most part.

🙂 So...this is hard to shorten, so here goes: transcripts received in early june, submitted 7/12, verified 8/28, released 9/3. Since then I have gotten all of my secondaries, turned them all back in and gotten four interviews thus far. I happened to be checking my status on some of the school websites (checklist of all received materials) and noticed a couple had "Last MCAT date: 9/11/2007"

My last MCAT was 7/17/09...the one before that was 9/11/07. Since I submitted my application a little under a week before I took the MCAT, I indicated that I had a planned MCAT for July 2009. After some calling around, I found out that the version of my app that schools received did not say "planned MCAT." I double checked both a hard copy I printed out upon submission as well as the AACOMAS website- both indicated a planned MCAT. My score from the 7/09 MCAT was released a couple of weeks before I was verified, and I had immediately released my scores and had the MCAT THx to prove it.

The schools that I called said it was not a huge deal (especially since my 7/09 retake was the same score as the previous one) but should be addressed, and to call AACOMAS and tell them they need to send an update/revision out. Sounds simple right?:scared:

So I call, and get a guy with some type of latino accent (maybe some of you will know who I am talking about because he seems to be one of few who answers). Seemed nice at first, but upon telling him my story he got all defensive and told me it must have been my fault (which was very dramatic since I wasn't accusing anyone of anything, I just was wondering if this is normal or happens alot). I'm a pretty understanding and tolerant person, but this was pushing it. I explained again that every copy I had/was looking at indicated a planned MCAT upon submission. He got angry and told me to write an email- I said I would prefer to speak with someone if possible, so he instantly connected me with someone else. Got their voicemail, left a message. No call back for a few days, then wrote a short email ( no response as well).

Called back again a few days later, get the same guy on the phone again. A few minutes in, he remembers me and gets really angry and says "what did I tell you last time??" in a really annoyed tone. I told him he connected me, I left a message and wrote an email with no response from either. So he makes some nasty comments and transfers me to the same lady again- voicemail again...no reply again. I just gave up no point in being mean back nothing gets accomplished. 😕

Two weeks later, a one sentence email response comes in saying a revision will be released shortly, but no schools have since gotten them. My biggest worry was that it would look bad that they didn't get all of my information, altho it was through no fault of my own. You always see schools saying that "if everything checks out..." after an acceptance that you are all set to begin med school if you choose to matriculate at that school- so I didn't want to be missing any info! That never looks good.

Sorry for the novel, it is nice to explain it to people who understand the process and all of the things that can go wrong with it (mothers and significant others just sometimes can't grasp the magnitude of the situation!!). Thought I had a decent experience with the service before this, but it still could have been wayyyy worse, right?🙄

Good luck to everyone in this process:luck:

Wow, your story seems to take the cake when it comes to the sucker punch of AACOMAS! I'm still not verified.

Can I start a company that processes apps? $150/app and 1 week turn times. Any takers?

Haha I love that idea that company would make millions from suckas like us who are eager to get apps verified. I will become your partner MIKE in this business venture.

Free market, man. Do it. 😛

... seriously, I would totally pay for that if I had the money.

I really hate this service. I'm tempted to write a strongly worded letter - that should change things.

Even the MCAT people for the most part, have the exam grades up the day they say they're going to. You don't hear about people waiting an extra week here and there.

Also, if this whole med school thing doesn't pan out, I could start my own application system. $75 per application and I'll have it verified within 4 to 6 weeks or your money back. 100% customer satisfaction rate! (At this point anyways... 😛)
