🙂 So...this is hard to shorten, so here goes: transcripts received in early june, submitted 7/12, verified 8/28, released 9/3. Since then I have gotten all of my secondaries, turned them all back in and gotten four interviews thus far. I happened to be checking my status on some of the school websites (checklist of all received materials) and noticed a couple had "Last MCAT date: 9/11/2007"
My
last MCAT was 7/17/09...the one before that was 9/11/07. Since I submitted my application a little under a week before I took the MCAT, I indicated that I had a planned MCAT for July 2009. After some calling around, I found out that the version of my app that schools received did not say "planned MCAT." I double checked both a hard copy I printed out upon submission as well as the AACOMAS website- both indicated a planned MCAT. My score from the 7/09 MCAT was released a couple of weeks before I was verified, and I had immediately released my scores and had the MCAT THx to prove it.
The schools that I called said it was not a
huge deal (especially since my 7/09 retake was the same score as the previous one) but should be addressed, and to call AACOMAS and tell them they need to send an update/revision out. Sounds simple right?
So I call, and get a guy with some type of latino accent (maybe some of you will know who I am talking about because he seems to be one of few who answers). Seemed nice at first, but upon telling him my story he got all defensive and told me it must have been my fault (which was very dramatic since I wasn't accusing anyone of anything, I just was wondering if this is normal or happens alot). I'm a pretty understanding and tolerant person, but this was pushing it. I explained again that every copy I had/was looking at indicated a planned MCAT upon submission. He got angry and told me to write an email- I said I would prefer to speak with someone if possible, so he instantly connected me with someone else. Got their voicemail, left a message. No call back for a few days, then wrote a short email ( no response as well).
Called back again a few days later, get the same guy on the phone again. A few minutes in, he remembers me and gets really angry and says "what did I tell you last time??" in a really annoyed tone. I told him he connected me, I left a message and wrote an email with no response from either. So he makes some nasty comments and transfers me to the same lady again- voicemail again...no reply again. I just gave up no point in being mean back nothing gets accomplished.
😕
Two weeks later, a one sentence email response comes in saying a revision will be released shortly, but no schools have since gotten them. My biggest worry was that it would look bad that they didn't get all of my information, altho it was through no fault of my own. You always see schools saying that "if everything checks out..." after an acceptance that you are all set to begin med school if you choose to matriculate at that school- so I didn't want to be missing any info! That never looks good.
Sorry for the novel, it is nice to explain it to people who understand the process and all of the things that can go wrong with it (mothers and significant others just sometimes can't grasp the magnitude of the situation!!). Thought I had a decent experience with the service before this, but it still could have been wayyyy worse, right?
🙄
Good luck to everyone in this process
