Why does UCLA want my high school transcript?

I had a lot of bad grades in high school, will this affect my app?

Harvard does this too; I'm destroyed at these two schools if they actually review my highschool transcript for content.

I'm not sure but I think they want to know if you actually graduated high school and not just got a GED. I could be wrong but I also don't see how they can look to down on a bad high schoolGPA and a great undergrad GPA (that is if you have a good one)
