Apologies if this is a dumb question.

Why does vitreous hemorrhage show up as black on opthalmoscopy?

Shouldnt it be red?
 
Maybe cuz it clots / dries up? Did you see the blood coming out of Don Cheadle's nose in the new Civil War trailer? It's like that
