Why is pressure indicator paste contraindicated during immediate denture insertion?

Don't they have a ton of open bloody extraction sites that you're now going to fill with paste?

The possibility (remote) of causing a zinc toxicity. PIP is a zinc oxide paste

I thought you're not meant to adjust an immediate denture at the day of delivery following extractions - thus no reason for PIP. You should deliver the denture as is. You have no idea how the tissues will heal over the next few days - you could be relieving crucial areas.
This gives you a better chance of the immediate denture actually fitting for longer than a few weeks.
 
lol. I just went through my complete denture unit at school and didn't know it was contraindicated.
I don't "dentistry" well.
