sorry for my dumb question but why does a fat malabsorption patient, or a post cholecystectomy patient might develop abdominal distension, bloating after having a heavy fatty meal?? I tried to find the answer in couple of books. All i know the abdomen is distended but i dont know why.

does this have to do anything with bacteria? Please someone help me clear my confusion away.🙂

Since you can't absord the fat it creats an osmolar gradient which sucks water into the bowel causing distension which leads to cramps and diarrhea

so it has nothing to do with bacterial breaking down of fat and subsequent accumulation of gas in abdomen? right?
