Why is there no dermatology forum?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Beat it pimple popper. These forums are for real doctors...

😡 so are you making fun of dermatologists now!?!? Dont you realize doctors/med students/pre meds arent allowed to have a sense of humor?!?!? I'm deeply offended, you are a terrible excuse of a physician!!! 😡

😉

thanx for the link ny skindoc. i was just wondering why there wouldnt be a forum for each residency to fall under 🙂

You gotta admit, that was a pretty lame thing to say.. There is no excuse for one physician to put down an entire specialty. I'd sure like to see a general surgeon managing your skin cancer one day...

As in yesterday, when I did a wide local excision and axillary sentinal node biopsy on a pigmented lesion which had been inappropriately shave biopsied by a dermatologist, and turned out to be melenoma?

Hehe, I'm just poking at ya (well, sort of...that did really happen...) My post was a joke between myself and DW...not at all meant seriously...

Geez....relax guys; don't get your dander up (now THAT was lame). womansurg was just teasing ya'll...a time-honored tradition between the specialties. Just tell yourself she's jealous of your cushy call schedule, few emergencies, and luxurious lifestyle.

At any rate, there isn't a Derm forum for the same reason there are lots of specialties missing - a) hasn't been a large calling for one; b) Lee has been off-site for several weeks bravely serving our country and c) we don't have a Mod for that specialty.

But I'll direct his attention to the request...

Melenoma?

*slaps forehead*

Hey, at least w/ derm you don't have to get up at 2:00 in the morning to save someones life.

Love the sleep! 🙂

Some guy posted on here about derm one time and other posters told him that he didn't have time to post on SDN if he was going into derm. They said that he should be studying for the boards and working on his CV (he was an MS1 and therefore "already behind"). So maybe Derms don't have time due to the insanely competitive nature of their specialty.

traditionally dermatology is a subdivision of internal medicine, although training is vastly different from the other im subpecialties. if you have questions about derm residency the im forum may not be very helpful. other questions okay.

Just curious. Dermatology is its own specialty and wouldnt fall under any of the other forums, right? any particular reason there's not a derm forum?
