Why label yourself Pre-Health on SDN

So every once in a while I see a poster who is clearly pre-med but has chosen to label themselves pre-health? If you are one of said people, please tell me what your reasoning was for opting out of the traditional title.

It's just like saying Asian-American instead of Korean-American.

Also, sometimes they might not know 100% if they want to do pre-med or pre-dent, pre-opt, etc. so they just list it as pre-health.

At least at my university, we don't have a pre-med club... we have a pre-health club that encompasses pre-med, pre-dent, pre-pharm, pre-podiatry, pre-physical therapy, pre-any other health thing.

That could be it.

That is why I don't even tell people I'm applying to med school. The term pre-med makes my head want to explode.

I'm pre-health because I'm not in college, so I wouldn't say I'm technically premed.
