So I get the great "Gmail Inbox (1)" and I open my browser with great anticipation and see TEMPLE, I rush to open the email to see that I should become.....a podiatrist.....

Dear Future Physician:

We were made aware of your interest in pursuing a health care career by your participation in the administration of the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). I’d like to make you aware of a profession, "Podiatric Medicine", that you may find compatible with your career aspirations.

Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.) enjoy one to one interaction with patients, perform surgical procedures and treat a full scope of systemic and biomechanical issues affecting the lower extremity. Seventy five percent of podiatric physicians work less than 48 hours per week, allowing them a balance between providing health care and pursuing personal interests. Furthermore, according to the Department and Bureau of Labor Statistics, podiatric medicine ranks eleventh out of the twenty top paying professions. Results from a recent survey conducted by the American Podiatric Medical Association of its members indicated the average net salary of a podiatric physician is $136,000.

Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine (TUSPM) is providing you access to our quarterly electronic newsletter "Gaitway". This communication gives you a synopsis of developments at TUSPM and highlights other articles of interest. Please take five minutes to peruse the winter 2006 issue.

Sincerely,

whew, thanks for the warning. Just got in my inbox. Another correspondence-adrenaline spike, and this premed, might have been done for.

hilarious...the same thing just happened to me. Gmail (1).... Temple...AHHH, they want to interview me...crap, no 🙁

That was indeed an annoying email. Don't the admissions offices have anything better to do than send random advertising emails?

Podiatry, huh? Maybe not a bad profession to get a toehold in ... to get your foot in the door ... to get right instep with ... 🙂

Sorry ... couldn't resist ... sorry to be be so corny ...

this sucks, i'm not even good enough to get a podiatry invite. 😡

Everytime I get one of these in the mail I feel like a bigtime loser....I want med school!

this sucks, i'm not even good enough to get a podiatry invite. 😡

Screw em! Who wants to look at stinky, smelly feet all day and have to clean out the black crud between peoples' toes?:barf:

I got the same email. I don't remember the part of the MCAT that said we were going to be spammed via email and postal mail with offers for going into careers other than M.D./D.O. medicine. 🙄

hilarious...the same thing just happened to me. Gmail (1).... Temple...AHHH, they want to interview me...crap, no 🙁

I got it too! And I thought about making a thread about it and got sidetracked...

I didn't actually apply there so I had to think about it for a second.

UPenn Vet/PhD kept emailing me a while back too. 😕

It appears to be SOP at Temple. I know someone who didn't get into their law school and then got mailings for their paralegal studies program.

What's SOP? Standard Operating Procedure?

I wish I was lucky enough to get a foot school invitation.

It's better than no invitation at all huh
lol.

I hate that heart attack feeling you get when you see Gmail (1) though. I especialyl hate it when the med school is simply mailing you about their latest "news/ research flash!".
I don't care about what your new and exciting research endeavors are! (unless you...) GIVE ME AN INTERVIEW NOW!

As my inbox remains empty, I can only conclude that I'm not good enough for the Temple Podiatry program.

BAD news: I just received an interview invite ffrom Temple about 43 minutes ago

Good News: I am think about declining it due to an acceptance. Opens a spot for you temple hungry fellows!

Knowing the Temple was sending out a few interviews today made that email really sting.

Temple Vs. Rush---Who is more cruel?

I have not received any of these advertisement emails. They don't like me enough to even advertise to me.

i got an email of that, and i received aletter today...😡

i got the email about podiatry from temple today also.

no email for me.
what letter did u get lina123321? a rejection??

do they send them out this early?

I've gotten many snail-mail letters from various "secondary" careers at the various universities that have medical schools. It's pretty sleazy they'd share our MCAT scores and information with other parts of their university.

boo, so if you received this email then you've been rejected from temple med?
lol, no med school would screw with our heads that much!! Could you imagine them setting up a list-serve just for rejected applicants and then proceeding to spam them for the next five months just to rub salt in the wound??

How is that bad news?

At this point I wouldn't put anything past 'em!! :meanie:
And yes, I too got that email today.

someone should email temple back and ask them what it means. Say that you aren't interested in podiatry and you demand to know the meaning of this.
pronto.

also ask why some of us didn't get this email?
thanks!

🙂

I don't think there's any rhyme or reason as to who got that email. I was accepted there weeks ago, turned down the offer, and still got that email.

HAHAHAHHAHAA...are they serious?

don't sweat it if you've received the email--it's sent to everybody that took the mcat. has nothing to do with if you did/did not get into temple. people who didn't even apply to temple get it.

Hmm, I feel slighted. I took the MCAT, applied to Temple, and didn't get the invite to apply to their podiatry school - sigh...It's right down the street from my favorite place for Chinese food too...

Seriously though, schools should consider these things when they send out mailings. The process is cruel enough without having school names in the subject lines of emails detailing discussions of podiatry (Temple), employee benefits (for those of us who work at med schools we also applied to) research developments (NJMS), et cetera.

And send fake interview invites 😛

How carelesss and unprofessional can they be?...sending fake interview invites....and how did you figure out that it was a fake interview invite?

Temple question unrelated to podiatry (*gasp!*):

When you guys are viewing your secondary status (i.e., all of the materials that have been received and processed by Temple), do you see a listing for your MCAT? All that is listed on my page is secondary, fee, and LORs.
