Why no DO FAQ in stickies

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Slappy,

How about posting something at the bottom of your thread saying something about not posting in it. That way it can be added as a sticky or a series of stickies without junk in it.

I've done that now. And thank you for the compliment. I do see the merits of a simpler version, but noting the limitations, decided to go with a little more comprehensive one. I'm certainly okay with either though!

As much as I would love it if someone assumed some sort of editorial role, I think we're going to have to self-organize what we have.

Slappy, what do you think about separating many of the posts and maybe if even some separation within them into separate threads. And then linking them by subject into a more simple sticky form?

Perhaps we good ask the forum elders to make a few comments on the subject?

But whatever the case if you're reading this chime in. We need a consensus. We have an opportunity to organize the forum but it takes input. Rather than usual passive consumption on the backs of a patient few of our elders here.

Nasrudin,

I'm not sure if separating the posts themselves to different threads might be the best idea, since in my mind, it sounds like it might only complicate the organization more? The biggest issue I see with splitting them into more threads is that it would encourage more discussion in those threads bumping them to the top instead of the linked threads or new threads making further organization of new information that are good (in those posts) more difficult. I also have some narcissistic liking for the way the thread in the current form flows (in my mind of course) from picking psychiatry to matching in psychiatry. 🙂 However, I'm certainly flexible if the forum consensus is to break them into many smaller threads since it was done for the forum members after all.

Also, it's still possible to link to specific posts within the thread for direct access to the specified topics, although that'd increase the redundancy. I'll separate each topic to a different post now to make that easier.

So...it would seem we are the only people interested in the flow and organization of stickies. It kind of lacks sex appeal I guess. But I like them. They're like time capsules. I can look up and see Anasazi and think of ancient past communities of psych sdn posters. And it seems like it means something beyond the ever revolving cycles of applicant hysteria, trolls, random anti-psych browsers, and such.

I think your original work was amazing. And I would love to see it stickied as is. It matches the cataloging efforts of splik's article list. And anasazi's and ndy's explication.

We've combined enough sticky's maybe yours could stand on its own and UI would still look clean.

It's up to a mod to make changes if any. As the long as the DO's have an easy reference point, I've helped along what I had hoped to.

I'm sure more people would chime in. I guess we'll give it a few days? I mean, it being a Monday and all, maybe the forum traffic is on the low side today.

I'm also provisionally adding a thumbs up smiley in front of a few standout threads like splik's 100 papers in clinical psychiatry to make an embedded "greatest hits" or "essential reads" list instead of listing those threads again at the top. Hope that works. I tried making those lines bold, but that only cluttered the look. Let me also know if I miss tagging any of those great threads.
