hey man your dat score is awesome, but the gpa is very low (esp sGPA and BCP for sure), if you dont get in this year you should do a post-bacc to boost up those grades. esp the BCP.

but for now sit tight, it aint over till its over, keep your chin up! 👍
 
most likely rejected because of bcp gpa

i have a mailing date of 7/29 and i got an interview at case and u submitted your's days ahead of me
 
I, too, have the same BCP GPA and have not heard back from those same schools. But the ones I received interviews for were the ones you did not apply to. My best guess would be your BCP GPA that's holding you back. If things don't turn out the way you planned this year, try for next year and take additional upper-science courses. Good luck! 🙂
 
Tufts hasn't called anyone yet.

If you're a WA resident you have a shot at UW. They do a lot of post Dec interviews.

UoP should like your DAT.

I think you'll get interviews, just not in the first round.

If I'm not mistaken, UofP already handed out all their Pre-Dec1 interview. PreDents also indicated that they have interviews set up for Dec5th.
 
Yeah, ditto to almost everyone else, core science GPA is just way too low.... post-bac or masters are yr best bet now or perhaps just really, really, REALLY well crossed fingers.

Its the low science GPA/BCP. I used to think that a high DAT score will make up for it...but since attending Dental School, I would put more emphasis on the GPA/BCP.

DAT is just one test, whereas, BCP/GPA shows how you will hold up in Dental School. After taking 20+ Units of hard, fast paced, unending 8 AM-5PM science, I understand WHY adcoms look at GPA/BCP the most.

If you can't hack it out in undergrad getting ~3.5, then from an adcom/current student's POV, you will not hack it out at all in Dental School. I'm dying (literally) in Dental School from information overload and I did well in undergrad (see pre-dents stats).

Go look into Masters/Post-bac that shows you can handle the load, and then they will give you a chance. Dental School is no joke, and schools don't want to accept people that perhaps cannot handle the load (from GPA/DAT standpoint). If they lose one seat/hold one student back, its one less seat in the class and that means LOSS OF MONEY.

i hope you are taking upper level bios right now to be calculated into your bcp!!! academic update that ishhhhh in november.
 
Man this really deflates me. I have a BCP of around 2.7 and my DAT is also 23AA! What should I do?


BTW, I'm in a one year Master's now

Yes. I am taking 3 biology classes and getting all A's 🙂 Hope they see my bio grades soon.
Biology is so easy compared to engineering classes.
 
This is just my opinion but while certainly the low BCP sci GPA will hurt, his application only completed in early September. I don't think schools look at it until it's complete (thus negating the July mail date) but I could be wrong.
