Why not have a Hippocratic and Osteopathic oath merger?

When the 2015 merger occurs why not have the DO induction ceremony combine parts of Hippocratic oath like 'do no harm' into the osteopathic oath?

The only thing keeping me from DO is that after all the hard work of getting into med school I won't get to recite the infamous 'do no harm' words at the white coat ceremony.

I can't tell if your serious or not, but if you are...

All physicians abide by beneficence and non-maleficence. The wording of the oath is semantics. If I were you, I'd focus on the bigger picture, which is actions over words.

The phrase "do no harm" is not in either oath so you'll be disappointed either way.

I would really hate to tell him that almost no MD school uses the hippocratic oath either. Hasn't been used in a few decades except for a couple schools here and there who don't ever want to break tradition in the least. The part about not accepting payment was always considered a bit of a tricky thing to swear to, so most schools use a modified "physician's oath". The AOA just happens to have their own modification of that modification.
