Hello, I am the guy who really wants to go to a cool private school but I am constantly worried about tuition costs. I got into some great (in my opinion) schools like UChicago, Emory, and Case. I was also admitted out of state into Cinci, which I consider to be a strong state school with excellent facillities. If I stay home I can attend my instate school, which isn't ranked but I like pretty well, however there is a significant match list difference. Currently I am looking at Case ~35k, Chicago and Emory ~32k, Cinci ~27k first year 17k each additional year. State U ~ 7500 a year 😱 . What is a lucky cuss like me to do. All are good schools I like the private schools better. However, even then I would have trouble choosing an order. Chicago is probably just barely edging the others. Are any of you guys passing up some cheap tuition? If so why? Do you feel the other schools will add significantly to your opportunities/happiness? Most docs I talk to say school doesn't matter unless you want to go into academics but that is something I have an interest in. By the way anyone who turns down UCLA, UCSF, UNC, or UMich is probably nuts, unless they got into Harvard, Hopkins, or the school is their undergrad and they have so many parking tickets that they can't drive to campus.

seriously, wack, you are the only one who can make this decision!

Financial aid packages from those private schools may help you make the decision...although it kind of sucks to hold onto all those acceptances, but you're allowed to until May 15.

Good luck, you have some nice schools to choose from.

The debate about state vs. private for tuition reasons has been discussed here at length...even in a newish thread just a few days ago, that should give you some insight.
