"WHY our school": How personal should you get?

Can someone help me here? I'm working on my secondaries and the big question is always "WHY did you choose our school?"

Should I be putting in a personal reason for choosing a school, or would an answer that reflects thorough research and interest in their school be more palatable to the adcoms? Also, it can be quite tough to find a personal reason for each and every school I apply to.

Being a Cali applicant last year, I applied to the usual 30 schools. By the time these types of essays came rolling in, after finishing number 22 on my list, I started to throw these types out.
