In occlusal adjustment,

when there is surface-to-surface contact of flat cusps, it should be changed to point-to-surface.

Why?

It's a prosth and physics concept, point to surface is more efficient in function and ideal occlusion conceptually involves cusp tip to an opposing fossa or surface. Point to point or surface to surface would imply malocclusion (thing edge to edge or canine cusp tip to canine cusp tip) and an undersirable setup for function.
