Why rejections so early?

I have all my apps in but I checked off that I had my August scores coming to them next month. But the schools aren't waiting. I already have two rejections. Shouldn't they be waiting for my August scores??? 🙁

Mine isn't exceedingly high, but it is significantly above what they are looking for on their website.

3.00 - but I have a 3.3 overall
2.75 - but I have a 3.1 science

Are you applying to an out-of-state public school? If so, they may require higher GPA standards than states for non-residents.

Alot. I have an interview Thursday for LECOM-Erie, but still I wanted to know what was going on. I am a MI resident by the way.

I was put on hold by DMU-COM after my first MCAT but then heard from them in the spring (i went up 4 points on my second MCAT.)

that does suck, especially since you are still waiting for august scores. it looks like msucom is your top osteopathic choice -- have you thought about calling them to ask if they know that you're still waiting for your new scores. honestly, i think it's conceivable that a school could accidentally overlook that. you don't have anything to lose. cage your question as if you're asking what you can do to strengthen your app for next year.

CCOM and MSUCOM (sooo bummed about this one! I thought my app was pretty good 🙁 )

Well if it makes you feel any better, I was accepted to AZCOM, OSU-COM, KCOM, and DMU-COM, but rejected from CCOM.

Also, MSU-COM is one of the most competitive schools to get into.

I think NYCOM does not send secondary to everyone. Western/COMP seems to select who they send the secondary too. In most cases the schools send out secondary to almost every applicant (unless they don't meet the minimal requirement).

WVSOM only send secondary apps to those they are interviewing. It's nice to not have to pay for a post-secondary rejection.

You might want to call the admissions office and make sure there wasn't a clerical error, and let them know about August MCATs coming their way.

I say this because my GPAs are only a tiny bit higher than yours and I'm not from Michigan. But MSU's admissions office is actively encouraging me via email to finish my secondary which they sent to me two weeks ago. They're just waiting on my August MCATs, which is the only time I took the test.

Maybe it's only because I have 10 years experience as a nurse anesthetist on my primary app that I'm not getting the rejection at this point in time?

i got the secondary via email the other day and will start it tonight. do i understand you correctly, will i get an interview here since i go the secondary. how does there admissions work? thanks in advance for the info!!!

The lady said that they usually do so she hooked me up with a meeting with the head of admissions on Monday afternoon to see if my app can get thrown back in until my scores come in.

Anyway, just an update. 🙂

Head of Admissions? You mean the Director? That's Kathie Schafer, she's awesome, sooooo nice. She's a little quirky, but amazing. Be candid with her, she sees right through any front or fibbing...you'll be out cold.

19O. But the August one went so much better. I got killed on the April one, it was so much harder!

Thanks. I took the one in april and got a 26N..... Took it again in April to get a bit higher score. unreal to score an 8 in bio sciences.... 🙁 I hope the best for you in Oktober, I am getting mine back too. MSUCOM is my first choice.
