Nah -- she can see a hospital from her house. If that doesn't make her qualified, I don't know what does.
I actually think she's taking the Dan Quayle approach that if you drop out of politics and disappear for a while, people will stop labeling you as a *****. And then maybe you can get a job teaching or writing or giving talks for big $$$. Her VP candidacy gave Alaska a black eye and there were likely a ton of local politicos who pressured her into leaving. That state didn't realize she was a laughingstock until she got thrown into the national arena, but once it's known, they were shamed into fixing the problem.
So yeah, if she can manage it, the nontrad route probably makes some sense -- she will be away from the limelight, and hidden in the wards for a decade or so, and have a lot more credibility with an MD after her name for whatever else she tries her had at. 🙂
