Why does this God-awful process have to take place in winter? It's depressing enough as it is. I'm sitting here listening to depressing music, staring out at the gray sky and begining to think about next year's applications. Anybody else this chipper?

I'm still waiting for winter to arrive... its too late in the year to be walking around in a t-shirt.

classic Seasonal Affective Disorder (aka SAD)...usually effective treatment is exposure to full spectrum UV light

or...wait until spring time when the sun is out more.

Don't worry...you're not alone

dcpark74,

Cheer up!🙂 You need to get your mind off the process. Go workout, partying, or volunteer at a local hospital if you feel you need to better yourself as a applicant. The point is DO something. Sitting around reading this message board and waiting by the mailbox will surely depress anyone. The process will happen regardless of your mood about it. Don't fret you have no control of the process once your applications are in, so chill.

RHK😀

UV light? I'll go stick my head in the hood with the UV on. 😳) But seriously...I'm gonna bring a christmas tree, some lights and some tinsel to my lab because it's freaking depressing in here. some jingle bells music couldn't hurt either.

In Orlando, the only chill in the air is coming out of my AC right now. We've only had 2 mildly-chilly days so far, and both were in the balmy 60s. Today it was 80. I'm actually psyched to go to some interviews where I can break out my sweaters and jackets. It just looks ridiculous wearing scraves and gloves in 50 degree weather!!!

Gah!!! Not UV light...not unless you want instant cancer! What you want is full daylight-spectrum light, especially in the morning. You can get a light box for this, or your college's health center might have one that you can sit in front of for a while.

Good call, pianogirl.

well, today was depressing. rainy and miserable and gray, nightmare to drive. 😡 days are getting dark at 5pm...oh well. can't complain tho. we've had some nice sunny days and the temps haven't gone below 60 yet...

I just wish I was back up at Berkeley period.
I miss the semi-seasons up there. LA is just blah. At least its getting somewhat cooler down here.

i'm sorry but you have me confused with the original poster. if you look at my sig, i'm already in med school.

as to SAD, many people have it this time of year...not myself, thankfully.

best wishes to all of you...stressing but worth it.
