Hi all,

Had a quick question as I was working on some of my secondaries. Most of my research interests aren't typical clinical work (computational sciences, genomics), but they certainly have huge future applications to medicine. The schools I'm applying to are really good at this stuff, but looking at most of the faculty, even those that are in the med school, I only see PhDs, very few MDs. Is it a bad idea to talk about my interest in these departments or am I just being neurotic?

PhD's are more likely to focus on research than MD's. It's the opposite. Be genuine about what you like in your application.

You should talk about what you are interested in, nothing wrong with having interests that are different from most other applicants

Thanks! Yeah, I meant more along the ideas of demonstrating an interest in basic sciences (where there would typically be few MDs involved) versus clinical research. But I agree that genuine is best!
