What are some ways to answer this question? If its your state school- is it OK to say location....living in the state...growing up there...familiarity with the area... etc? or not?

Also, RANDOM question but when you walk into your interview room do u shake hands and say Hi nice to meet you I'm xxxxx ??

Sorry if these are dumb ?s. 😕

Do a research on the school your interested and figure out what that school has to offer you and state that at your interview.

Yep, it is completely fine but you need to give additional thoughtful reasons why that school is your # 1 choice.

The interviewer will call your name and reach out to shake your hands.
Make sure your hands are not full of sweat.

If the interviewer thinks your hand is too sweaty, better luck next year. Make sure you stick to the accepted 2 pumps on a handshake before release, if you over pump, blny. Watch eye contact during the interview, but if you keep contact too intensely, you may be another 'blny' applicant. If you're hands are trembling, they think 'how can this naive predent master the high speed?', and your application will quickly meet Mr. Shredder. If you reach into your pocket and pull out a phone any time during interview day, blny. "Do you have any further questions?", if it's a no, they mark down on the application A NO GO. Don't have any immediate lineage currently working at the dental school? BLNY. Couldn't resist 😀.

things to look into: what getting patients for clinic does the school staff get the patients for you or do you have to go out into the community and find patients yourselves? you'd be surprised to find out how many schools make you go out on your own.

assistance with school: as in, what resources are available should you need help in a course? do they provide tutors? are the professors, in general, very helpful to create an environment for success? do they provide counseling, etc.

how were you treated when you visited the schools? some schools were probably very nice and some could have put you off.

what's the size of each entering class? professor to student ratio?

at my school: we don't have to worry about getting patients, there are plenty of resources to help us in our classes, the professors (except for just one) are very very nice and professional, and when i interviewed there they were by far the nicest to me. Also, we have a small class of just 58 students. with the smaller class, you get to know everybody and you can certainly get more attention/help from faculty.

and Yes, do shake hands and act professional. They really want to know your personality and see if you'd be a great fit to their school.
