Does anyone have any information about the wiche scholarship? What factors determine who recieves funding? How many WICHE schools you are required to apply to? Any past WICHE funded dental students, where they were accepted, where they applied, and what their stats were?

P.S. Uh, what is WICHE exactly? Is it a residency classification thing?

Western Interstate Commision for Higher Education (WICHE)

It is funding given to students from states that do not have dental schools. It basically pays the difference between instate and out of state tuition.

You must reside at least 5 years in the state for that is going to pay for it. I called the Arizona WICHE headquarters and talked to the main person there and they said that they already had 32 applicants with enough money for 11-12 spots for dentistry alone. It is somewhat difficult to determine exactly what they're looking for, but if you can get certified, they will pay the difference between out of state and in-state tuition. Then you practice in that state for a certain number of years to pay it off.
