Free is a very good price. And you get kind of a lot for free, too - an account that will break down your performance, etc. A majority of the questions seem pretty straightforward, occasionally some were more challenging like UW, however. Explanations are pretty good too - I love the hyperlinks to wikipedia.

Seconded. I haven't used a whole lot of their questions yet, but what I have seen was pretty good.
I also love the concept.

my 2 cents:
I usually do 20 random timed, and I believe they come close to the released 150 NBME test
I think they are great and there are few challanging ones (ppl avg% <40) which get you pretty good and have details worth knowing (HY)
I think thats how the NBMEs should be (haven't taken them yet)

Can anyone validate this comment?
I was browsing some questions and I was under the impression that some of those questions that were on the website were the same ones as the Free NBME 150Q test. I've held off on doing those questions, because I'd like a fair assessment of where i stand at the beginning of my step 1 studying.

I took the 150 released questions from NBME like a week ago as a baseline. And yes, their questions are very close to those 150 released questions IMHO.

Where does one go to get the free 150 questions? Are they the same ones that wiki test have explanations for?
if you go on to their website, they should have a link leading to NBME website and the pdf file of the released 150 questions. actually,
http://www.usmle.org/Examinations/step1/step1_content.html
there you go

Obiwan,
WikiTestPrep also has explanations for the 150 NBME Sample Questions. You can view them all here: http://www.wikitestprep.org/sample_nbme.asp
Good luck with your studying,

hey great idea, and a great site.. what might be a good feature to include not only the % of people that got each question correct, but also how many people answered the question. that way we know that if 1,000 people answered that question and the average is 40% that's more reliable than 200 people taking that question and having an average of 40%.
thanks again for a great site too bad i won't get to use it too much.
We do not assign a difficult rating (% correct score) until at least 100 people have taken the test. In the past 3 months, folks took 12,000 practice tests at WikiTestPrep. Since our database of questions is only 500q, that means every question was used at least 500 times (and that's just the last 3 months).
So you can put some faith in the % correct score 🙂

This link doesn't seem to work. How can I find the explanations from the main WikiTestPrep site?
Thanks.
Do you guys just stick to approved questions? How are you incorporating wikitest prep into your studies?
