I've been programming to put up the WikiPremed Physics Flashcards as an app for Android devices. Let me know what you guys think. I will be uploading the other physics topics soon. The name of the company is Blackbird Systems Software. Thanks guys

Wow. I was not contacted about this. From what I can tell he is charging 99 cents for each chapter. There are 23 chapters. These cards took me three years to create, working in the wee hours of the morning before going in to my biotech job. In my opinion, this is not good manners.

WikiPremed will send you the whole set on lovely card stock for $19.95, or you can view them free at http://www.wikipremed.com. My physics cards really are the best review for MCAT physics in any form. I am really proud of them.

If he weren't charging money and had contacted me first I'd probably be okay with this. If anyone wants to make an authorized edition for android or i-phone, just contact me. I'm so busy I haven't had the time to do it.

My work is licensed creative commons so that it could serve as a basis for folks to add value in creating new works. I am committed to open education, to improving educational opportunities around the world. He has the legal right to produce this work, but if any android or i-phone programmers would contact me I'm open to the idea of co-developing apps based on my work and releasing them at a lower price point. There's no reason for an android app to cost more than the printed version.

Honestly, I have worked incredibly hard to create WikiPremed. It's been a tough year. Sorry for the emotional quality of this post. I might be okay with this if I knew more. I just haven't been contacted at all.

I was about to say I don't think you can do that. That is John's work and it is licensed, you can't just take the material and distribute it like that.

I would contact Mr. Wetzel

No. This is legally fine. My work is creative commons licensed. I would be supportive if the apps were free, but I reserve the right to voice my opinion if I feel an implementation isn't in the spirit of the project. Communication is the essence, and collaboration.

I am glad he felt my work was meritorious. He is making an educational work available in a medium where it did not exist before. Folks should take advantage of it without any negative feelings. It's just a wake up call that I need to develop applications like this myself. It's not like another company can compete against me with my own project, but in the interim, I guess I'm okay with this.

The last thing I wanted to do was aggravate the people who would use the app and the cards original creator.

I purchased the cards a year ago and loved them. Always having excelled in physics, I started tutoring a few hours a week at the high school and college level. Being unemployed with no unemployment checks makes things extremely tough. Grasping for anyway to make money this was one of my ideas. They have only been up on the market for a month and have made pocket change. (John I'm sending you my Google Market Report in a PM so you can see.) There are about six more apps to put up over the next few days so the android full android version will cost about $10. Of course I want to talk this over with you John because it will take a few more months for me to even make a grand total of $10. Obviously I want as many people to download them and if that means partnering with you John(giving you a cut) then by all means that is what will happen. I knew that you would see this on these forums and take this as me telling you and getting some sort of marketing. I am open to absolutely anything...

John,
If I make them all free could you link me to your site?

Biohzd, I appreciate the hardships you are undergoing, but man, fait accompli just isn't the way to make me happy to work with someone. I said before I was too busy, but it's more than that. There are project stages I had hoped to take the work through before entering the world of hand-held devices, so that entrance into the medium actually adds value and coordinates with learning management. Do what you will, but please don't ask me to change the direction of WikiPremed because you figured out android programming. Because the work input is so small for what you are doing, I don't see how you feel you have any standing to dictate the form I would want to see my own creative works to have in this medium. WikiPremed isn't something I began 'grasping for any way to make money'. It's the work of my life. I'm hoping for the best for you, but I'm not on-board with you just taking my physics cards and making them a product of your software company without contacting me first.
