Will Adcoms ever have your phone number?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My school did call me, though I don't remember if it was after I was accepted or after I put down a deposit, but I did get a phone call from an assistant dean.

So they got you phone number from your AAMC app?

Some schools will ask you for your contact info through their online forms or at an interview, some schools will call you to give you your acceptance prior to sending it via email/mail, some waitlist schools will ask you for your phone to contact you for a quicker turn around if a spot opens for you.

Yes. If there's a reason you're uncomfortable in giving it (they might find something not good by searching the number on Google), then get a pre-paid phone if you're worried.

Some med schools even call students to inform of their acceptance.

Paranoid pre med here : what percent of med school ADCOM partake in the following activities:

1. Check SDN ( checking school specific thread don't count)

2. Check potential interviewee Facebook's

3. google potential interviewee names

4. google potential interviewee phone numbers

Also is it a chance that a certain med school doesn't do any of the 4..

anybody? @gyngyn

I think you overestimate what kind of time adcoms have and understimate the amount of applicants they have to look over. I think most interviewers are confident that if someone is lying or significantly different from who they say they are on their paper application, that it will show in their interview.

1. unknown but certainly, many.
2. happens more and more. Though more likely with residency PD's at this time
3. happens when something doesn't add up (and one would otherwise be interested in interviewing).
4. I hadn't thought of this one yet!

If there's not something Kosher about your presence in cyberspace, then a reverse phone number search would be the least of your worries!

I just deleted my linkedln. If they want to know me they have to interview me
What are you even putting on your Linkedin profile? If it is your resume, they should probably already have that in your application, if you are the type that posts or participates in discussions on Linkedin, then I would hope it would already be very professionally acceptable that you wouldn't mind an Adcom seeing it since you are posting it in a professional, work related social media venue. If you are posting things that show negatively on you on Linkedin, then I don't even know what to say...

During the interview/acceptance phase of medical school, will at any point adcoms have access to your phone number....

Yes because it is in your AMCAS application.

I've been called by schools several times including to offer me an interview spot.

Jeez, you really are paranoid! Now I'm curious as to why you ask!!!!

Do what I did and anonymize most of your online presence. I have a dummy FB account with my real name and a few boring pictures, then my real FB account with a random plausible name. Your LinkedIn can be a boring outpost that shows you exist. That said, why are you so worried about your damn job history? Worried the ADCOMs don't like pizza or something?
