Will getting a MIP hurt my chances?

I recently made a dumb decision as I decided to have a few beers while underage when tailgating for the Georgia/Florida football game. A cop came up to me and ID'ed me, and as a result I got a $75 citation. I wasn't taken to jail or anything, but I'm pretty sure it's something that will always stay on my record.

Question, would dental schools look at it as a huge deal? I'd hate for this stupid decision to keep me out of dental school. Do they even check for stuff like this?

Well, if they have any common sense they will realize that everyone (including minors) sip on cocktails prior to FL/GA. Nice to see a little more competitiveness to the rivalry btw. I don't think its a big deal.

is it an infraction? if it is u are good..
but usually i think MIPs are misdemeanors.. but then if u just got a ticket and dont have to go see a judge it seems like u just got an infraction.

Some people are lucky and others get busted.
As long as its not a felony, then I think you are OK... but I really don't know for sure.

Yeah, I checked an article and I was one of like 230 minors to get a ticket.

Hell of a game though. I hated to lose, but probably the most entertaining game I've ever been to.

I got an MIP when I was a Freshman living in the dorms and I had to go through community service, an alcohol class (wtf?), and pay fines for them not to file it with the courts. They didn't and it didn't show up on my record when I had a background check done on me (I know, I was a bit paranoid). I still put it on my AADSAS though under violation of school policy section, just in case. I don't think it's that big of a deal. I wasn't even asked about it at my interview recently. Kids drink underage, you'd have to be living in a cave to think otherwise.

I applied with legal problems on my record (obvious drug and alcohol problems showed on my application), and I still got into a few schools. Some cared; some didn't. As long as you don't have more on your record and have learned from it, you should be fine.
